I watched The Last of Us s2e1 last night.....

THIS IS HOW YOU FUCKING DO IT!!!!!

It's not DEI shit, there's no race swapping.....it's an original story (albeit based on a video game) where the main female character is now a 19 year old adult coming into her own as a badass gay young woman with a complex and nuanced storyline that sets up the whole season. She will have to balance her relationship with her (more or less dad) Joel....who is Pedro Pascal btw, a Latino man who's awesome....her ability to hunt the zombies as a seasoned and hard hunter and her new feelings about a relationship she wanted but wasn't sure she could ever have.

I think most rational people are happy to watch a story with diverse characters and minorities in the starring roles. Just make it fucking original and compelling. That shouldn't be too much to ask.

Don't make Snow White a Latina....cramming it in like that is what pisses people like me off.

Last of us is off to a good start this season.

It‘s kind of hard to believe that it’s only the start of season 2. Soooo much happened in season 1.

I bought a PS5 just to play this game after season 1.

Apparently in The Last of Us 2 Joel dies......I think Ellie kills him....but I didn't play 2, only the original.

But that's just the game, who knows what will happen with the show.

Silo on Apple TV is based on 3 books and they are 2 seasons deep and barely into the second book.

I believe this is the first time i have ever completely disagreed with the Critical Drinker.

I don't watch everything he does but of what I have seen I mostly agree with it however i really enjoyed the first episode of season 2 of The Last of Us and i think I'm going to enjoy this next episode I had no idea we were going to get to The Killing this quickly....

Anyway maybe I'm being unfair because I only watched one minute of his 7-minute video because I haven't seen episode 2 yet and I don't want the story to be totally given away even though I know what's going to happen from the video games so I'm going to watch it right now and I'll edit this post.

Watched the "Last of What The Fuck Of Us!?!?!?" last night.

Yep. I finished it a couple hours ago.

I'm glad they got it over with early in season 2. It sets up Ellie to be even more of a badass seeking revenge throughout the rest of the season.

I need to play the second game.

I'm sure we've done this before and my list was probably different, but let's do it again.

List your top five all-time American television shows.

I asked the question to Gemini and this is what she said:

For me it's:

Sopranos
Seinfeld
Curb
Battlestar Galactica
Parks and Rec

With Twilight Zone, Simpsons and Community as an honorable mentions.

I know 9-year old me thought Miami Vice was cool as shit growing up. The cars, the outfits, the rock stars as special guests, the soundtrack (which I had on vinyl at one time). Everything! That was one of my first experiences with using music as the background for the story line. The Sopranos was a big part of that too.

I guess IRBS proves the old adage: different strokes for different folks. But jeez.

What happened to Breaking Bad, or Game of Thrones, or Hill Street Blues?

Anyway, here are my top 5, plus the runners-up:

Sopranos
Six Feet Under
Seinfeld
MASH
Cheers

Friends
Frasier
The Bob Newhart Show
The Office
The Odd Couple
Everybody loves Raymond
Modern Family
This is Us
Homeland
Mad About You
Curb Your Enthusiasm

Ted Lasso! I've never watched it, but I've sat through at least 2 years of awards shows, where they've won every award. Nobody picked it?

Oh wow. 2 of you have Remington Steele on your lists.

I have no idea what that show is.

I'm going to make a point to check it out now, It must be streaming somewhere. It seems like it's probably a 70's show so I hope it holds up.

EDIT: It's an 80's show and it's not streaming anywhere. I'm not buying individual episodes, doing that is bananas.

My wife got me the DVD box set -- all 5 seasons.

Best seasons are seasons 1 & 2. Season 3 is good. Season 4 is mixed. Season 5 is a waste of time.

One of the guys who played James Bond for a while (Pierce Brosnan) is in it, it was pretty good, not sure I'd call it a favorite but it wasn't bad. My parents watched it religiously, that's how I've seen it.
