Various Thoughts

When Howard doesn't know someone's name, he says something in Hebrew really fast.

Any ideas what he says? "Kiss my tukus-XXXXXX-Ron" is close with the X's being what I *really* can't make out.

Kish mein tuckus aram - kiss my butt It's Yiddish

He says that specifically for a lot of callers named John. "John kish mein tuckus aram".

Listened to most of the replay of the Cheryl Crow interview again. It was long and full of content and intelligent responses from her. Howard was really interested and I suppose most of her story got told but it is a good example of Howard constantly breaking the flow to the detriment of the interview. I wanted to hear every detail of how she got the job as a backup signer for Michael Jackson and what went on in the studio, in rehearsals, in concerts, on the plane etc. Howard was interested too but he would not let her do it naturally. He insisted on interrupting and jumping around. This was one guest who only needed straight questions... no "pacing" or prompting from Howard. At one point she said that she thought Michael Jackson had gotten some bad advice on using what I think was a harmonizer kind of device. And something about a lot of lip synching. But Howard had to move on to something else... maybe team jealousies or another of his favorite subjects... can't remember. I wish he had let her flesh out the criticism she had. Still a very good interview ... different from what you would hear anywhere else.... but it could have been better.

I think there's one regular caller who refers to himself as that.

Funny we were talking about this last Mon and Tues and then it was brought up on the Wed show. I finally listened to the 8.2 show today and during the news Robin brought up a story about funny words. Before she read off the words Howard started talking about certain words and phrases he finds funny and he specifically mentioned kish mein tuckus aram as one he liked.

Listened to some of the replay of the John Mellencamp interview.
Mellencamp: Women don't like me. Not in general but when I'm with them.
Howard: Why?
Mellencamp: I'm grumpy. I'm always complaining. Not fun to be with.
Howard: It's the passion? [could have been a statement]

WTF? Grumpiness and complaining are indicative of a passionate person? I'll give Howard a break here. He was trying to put a positive spin on Mellencamp's admission of something negative. I don't think even Howard thinks chronic complaining is indicative of a passionate person. Does he?

He's really referring to himself, a passionate workaholic who doesn't enjoy anything. So he likes finding others who claim to be like him.

I wish Jackie was still around...

This week's Joke Hunt could be all about space... Uranus jokes would be all over the...

Astronomic Hunt
Also featuring jokes about really gimormous lady bits.

I've been thinking about the Dave Letterman interview. It started out with Howard doing his psychoanalyst shtick. David began to answer like a good boy but eventually he saw where Howard was coming from and brushed off enough of his questions as ridiculous so that Howard had to play it straight. In the end it was a good interview. Love to hear Howard interviewing Letterman and Seinfeld at the same time. Those guys would turn the tables on Howard and interview him. Seinfeld would have a field day.

In one last joke, Jay dies at the beginning of Howard's vacation, ensuring it won't be discussed by THSS until it's already considered irrelevant by the free world. Kudos Jay!

In all seriousness, it's a sad loss. I didn't listen, but I found him funny when I caught him. His Lone Ranger story is great!

Was anyone else watching a lot of hurricane coverage over the weekend, hoping to catch some random "government agent" telling Houstonians to stay at home and enjoy Howard Stern's butt juice??

"Just stay on your roof and wait for Robin Quivers' pontoon boat breasts."
