Today's Denny's Commercial

I gave up on Denny's one day when I saw a roach scurrying across the floor underneath the booth.

It wouldn't surprise me if Howard is taking money for these "product placements", but I don't care, he has the good sense to wrap a story around them.

Howard probably lies about reading the NYTimes, he just reads the ads and tries to pimp them out on his show...

You guys have never discussed a news article you read?

One of three things is going on here. One, maybe you guys are right and Denny's is paying for these mentions. Two, maybe Howard genuinely just likes the commercial. Or three, maybe Howard really has something against IHOP.

Who doesn't?

We should do a poll...Denny's Grand Slam vs. IHOP's Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N' Fruity

Grand Slam. The only sugar and cream I have with my breakfast is going in my coffee.

Then I'd say you are just the kind of guy Denny's is targeting in those commercials. But yeah I agree. As a kid, I used to like those chocolate chip pancakes from IHOP...but nowadays (usually after a late night of drinking), Denny's is my choice.

Actually, Denny's is the least of my choices. I prefer a good old fashioned greasy spoon or neighborhood diner. I have two places near me that make a breakfast that would make Denny's taste like dog food. Homemade corned beef hash, real waffles with genuine maple syrup (yeah, it's sugar - but not really;)), huevos rancheros, hand cut bisquits, southern country ham, thick cut bacon that's really smoked . . .

Hmmmmm now I'm hungry, and I just ate lunch.

Yeah I would agree. Any type of hole-in-the-wall diner is probably going to better than Denny's. Or IHOP.

But what I was trying to say is that I think those Denny's commercials with their "eat a serious breakfast" slogan...it's really just a knock on IHOP's brand with all their sugary and creamy crap. Anyone remember those "Who Cakes" IHOP had about a year ago? Maybe they still serve them, I don't know.

Actually, those Who Cakes look just like the "Giggledrop" dish in the commercial...

Denny's and IHOP are both fine choices... I would kill for either one right now (it's been AT LEAST 5 years since I've walked into either restaurant).

I never really liked breakfast food. There are a number of things I like, but I would rather eat something off of the lunch/dinner "menu". In fact, I'm a bit puzzled as to why breakfast gets a whole different selection of items when compared to every other meal of the day.

I've never been to either but judging from the pics I'd go with Denny's. I'm not big on sweets.

I'm not a big breakfast guy, either - I love cereal, but I'm more than happy to eat it at dinnertime.

There was an avalanche of commercials during the Super Bowl. The Denny's Commericial was really funny (to me) and obviously to Howard. Something about the way the waitress kept on coming back to complete the whip cream portrait of a bearded man depite the glare of the mob type customer. So, a really funny commercial during an avalanche of not-so-funny commericials (football players doing ballet dancing...... yet again...?!?? c'mon!!) maybe was a great pleasure for Howard. I don't think he would sneak in a Denny's commercial. No motive.. No need to hide it. If Denny's were a sponsor he would get Artie to read the copy.
