Test Your ISP Speed

I may be late to the game but with Comcast they have something called "Speedboost" which essentially uncaps you for about a minute to boost your downloads.

So when you do a speed test it regs as about 25 or 30 meg dl and a nice 4 to 5 mb upload speed.

Now Comcast always has something called Comcast Blast! (Namly in areas with Verizon Fios is heavy) where the packages are at 15 to 16mb download and 2 to 4 upload of straight bandwidth, not like the Speedboost where it's only unlimted for a brief amount of time.

Mine is pretty slow compared to some of yours.

Mine has improved but still sucks imo.

How much better is Comcast and how much for internet only. Never mind, I will look it up.

Its fun to compare speeds, but its what we are paying for those speeds that is more interesting to me.

I have internet at two places;

on grid in town.
DSL / $70 (static IP makes it cost extra)
Local customer service with real office and people. One of the highest rated in CS satisfaction.

off grid in country.
Satellite"highspeed" also $70:cry:
Getting fapped back to below dialup for downloading an update or watching a movie, priceless. (Fapped=The act of being regulated by Hughesnet's, allegedly, "Fair Access Policy" which would be better termed the "Screw You Access Policy." )
The worst rated CS of any ISP.

Note the ping time. yee-haw!

My ISP gave me a free month because they are having a "saturation" problem systemwide, and couldn't give me my 8 Mb/s internet speed as advertised.

Mine is always consistently in this range and it is what I am paying for, so I am happy with it.

One thing I've discovered over the years that it seems at some point you reach a peak of speed. What I mean is that once you reach a certain level most web sites can't feed you but so fast and lots of download sites do the same they throttle or simply don't have the bandwidth to provide that sort of throughput. It nice to look at the numbers, but in real word use unless you connect with a server that can provide it back to you, you are just pissing in the wind so to speak!
