I'm really surprised that the Tigers took the wildcard series from Cleveland.
I thought that their nosedive at the all-star break was going to keep them from getting anywhere near this far.

Even if Seattle sweeps em, it will have been a great season for Detroit.

The Yankees win tonight is the first time since the current wildcard format was introduced that the team that did not win game 1 of the series has won the series. Before today there was also only 1 series that went to game 3. Today 3 of the 4 series went that way.

In that game, the Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani became the first player in MLB history to be the starting pitcher and leadoff hitter in a post-season game. In the regular season, he hit 55 home runs and had a .282 batting average and a 2.87 earned run average.

Trey Yesavage started the year in the lowest level A ball with the Jays. He is starting Game 2 against the Yankees. He has 7 strikeouts in the first 3 innings.

The Elias Sports Bureau, founded in 1913 by brothers Al and Walter Elias, keeps track of everything – everything! – in every major league baseball game. If you want to know which catcher hit the most triples in night games or which pitcher threw the most consecutive strikes in second games of doubleheaders, Elias could tell you. One of my favorite useless statistics involves the only player to hit an inside-the-park home run in his first major-league at-bat.

10 strikeouts through 4. Got Judge this time. He walked him in the first. Can't really fault him for that.

Yankees beat Red Sox, and for that I’m ecstatic… but that’s as far as this Yankees team will go.

I do hope you are right being their opponent. Jays are very good at home. Suspect it will be tougher in New York.

They pulled him after 78 pitches and 0 hits. They don't want to show him too much to the Yankess since they might need him in game 5.

They should have left Yesavage in. In 6th and 7th innings, Blue Jays used six relievers and gave up 7 runs. Score is now 13-7.

Yesavage pitched a no-hitter for 5.1 innings. Then seven relief pitchers gave up 10 hits and 7 runs but the Blue Jays won, 13-7. Yesavage got the win. I'm rooting for the Jays. I'm tired of the Yankees being in the World Series so often.
