Also game 162 is always bittersweet to me. It is the end of everyday baseball with multiple games and a sign that in just a few weeks, it will all be over until April.

Ken, I'll take "MLB PLAYERS WHO WERE IN 163 GAMES IN A SEASON" for $800.

He is unique in that his 163rd game was not a extra tiebreaker game.

Here is today's history lesson (which nobody asked for). When the National League was founded in 1876 it included the Boston Red Stockings, Cincinnati Red Stockings, Chicago White Stockings, St. Louis Brown Stockings, Louisville Colonels, Hartford Dark Blues, Mutual Club of New York and Athletic Club of Philadelphia. In that first season, each team played 70 games. In 1877, after two teams left the league, the schedule was shortened to 60 games. After several changes, the 162-game season was adopted by the American League in 1961 and the National League in 1962.

I find that, as a working, functioning adult, watching 162 games is insane; especially at 4 hours each. I know many adults who do watch (or listen to) them all, and it runs their lives. Kids, dinners, and social activities all take a back seat to watching players spit, scratch their balls, and hit foul after foul for hours.

When I started watching F1, it was 18 races per season. Now it's 24. The race is 2 hours, and the qualifying is an hour. Plus they added a few short sprint races per season. That's enough time to spend watching sports.

MLB has taken a lot of steps to shorten games. Most games are done in under 3 hours. Most about 2.5 hours. I personally find the game more exciting than watching cars drive around in circles over and over again.

Is it a brand of baby food? I like how former KFI sports director Rich Marrotta explained NASCAR. In a hillbilly voice, he said, "Ooh, look at all the little cars go round and round!" :D

It's very simular to NASCAR but without the exciting crashes.
I know, you're joking. But saying any sport involving a car is the same, is like saying any sport involving a ball is the same. You see how ignorant that is?

But really, who's asking for your opinion of F1? I just used it as an example of a sport that doesn't require 500 hours of my time each year (not including post-season). I could've used football instead. But then you wouldn't have been able to personally attack my intelligence. Which is no fun for you.

I kept quiet all season, but go Yankees!
I know they will flame out like every one of the last 15 seasons. Hope they eliminate the hated Red Sox at least.

I follow the MLB standings but I really haven’t watched a game all season. Just World Series normally for me.

Car racing does nothing for me. I have watched NASCAR some as my wife was a big fan. Actually went to a race in 2021 (Watkins Glenn) as one of her bucket list things. Enjoyed it. The best part of most of the races was the crashes. I have tried to watch Indy and F1 when I was much younger. I found it boring. Hardly any passing. Only strategy seemed to be when to pit which seemed to be the only way to change the order. Too me 2 hours is way too much time to invest. And I recall some of these F1 races lasting 24 hours (or is that a different circuit?).

I don't watch all the games. I follow most (alerts on my phone). I attend a handful. I enjoy it. While I never cared that games used to be 3.5 hours, they are much quicker the last couple years with the rule changes.

And I might add that you do live in sort of a free country and free speech is sometimes allowed, but I have to ask what the point of coming into a baseball thread with a comment pretty much saying solely that you don't like baseball.

The Yankees are annoying as hell. The last 3 weeks they somehow seemed to remember how to play baseball.

I am in one of the rare situations where I am going to actually cheer for the Red Sox.

Again, not relevant, and I don't care. I was only citing a sport I watch that requires a normal amount of viewership. If I said football, would you still be talking about auto racing?

And I recall some of these F1 races lasting 24 hours (or is that a different circuit?).
Wrong. That's endurance racing. Completely different sport. It's like if I started talking about soccer to criticize baseball. By regulation, F1 races are capped at 2 hours. Most are done in less than 1.5 hours.

And I might add that you do live in sort of a free country and free speech is sometimes allowed, but I have to ask what the point of coming into a baseball thread with a comment pretty much saying solely that you don't like baseball.
The discussion was about the number of games per year. 98 even posted the history of that. I added to that conversation. And I never said "I don't like baseball".

Saw a tidbit yesterday. On June 2nd the best team in all baseball was the Detroit Tigers. The #2 team was the New York Mets.

Also of the 4 times the Mets have been eliminated from the playoffs on the final game of the season, 3 of those times were by the Florida Marlins.

It was a holiday in Canada so I wound up watching most of 3 of 4 wildcard games. Pretty good games. Winners were: Detroit, Chicago and Boston. Only Chicago was the home team. I didn't bother watching the Dodgers since I don't think CIncy has a chance and watching the Dodgers win would just piss me off.
