The Jays scored the second most runs in a playoff game in franchise history. The #1 was a 15-14 comeback win in game 4 of the 1993 World Series against that wild reliever Mitch Williams.

The Jays have scewed up in Wildcard rounds and ALCSs over the year. But they have not yet lost an ALDS or a World Series they were in.

Dodgers-Phillies game 2 just ended. No score for six innings, then the Dodgers scored four runs in the top of the seventh and went on to win 4-3. Game 3 is October 8 at Dodger Stadium. If the Dodgers win this best-of-five series, they will play either the Cubs or Brewers for the National League championship.

The Jays beat the self-proclaimed best team in baseball 3 games to 1. The first 2 games were offensive explosions. The first game was wll pitched by the Jays and the starter pitched exceptionally well in the second game. The bullpen struggled but they had a 13 runs to work with so Jays still won. The opener in Yankee stadium saw them blow a 6-1 lead and lose 9-6. Today was a bullpen day (they kept and extra lefty reliever instead of a fourth starter) and I thought for sure we would be heading to game 5. But the bullpen actually shut down the Yankees today and they won 5-2.

The Jays will host either the Tigers or the Mariners in the ALCS starting on Sunday.

The only team left in the playoffs that I dislike is the Dodgers. The rest I’m more or less okay with.
Brewers - Jays would be fun.

The Phillies beat the Dodgers tonight, 8-2. Kyle Schwarber hit two home runs. With two outs in the ninth inning and runners on first and third, Ohtani flied out (on the first pitch!) to end the game. He finished 0 for 5. Game 4 is tomorrow. Starting pitchers are Tyler Glasnow for the Dodgers and Cristopher Sánchez for the Phillies.

What a wild finish to Dodgers-Phillies game 4. In the 11th inning, Edman singled. Hyeseong Kim pinch-ran for him. Muncy singled. Hernández walked. With bases loaded, Andy Pages hit the ball toward the mound. Phillies pitcher Orion Kerkering tried to throw out Kim at home plate. He missed the catcher by several feet. Dodgers win, 2-1. They will play the Cubs or the Brewers for the National League championship.

The Mariners just beat the Tigers 3-2 in a 15-inning game to win their AL Division series. The Mariners (who are the only current MLB team to never be in the World Series) stranded 10 baserunners and struck out 17 times. The Tigers stranded 12 baserunners and struck out 20 times. The Mariners will play the Blue Jays for the American League championship. Game 1 is October 12 in Toronto.

Or do Canadians spell it "Tourountou"? :p

Too bad they couldn't have played longer.

Seattle came into the league the same time as the Jays in 1977. They were not the first team in Seattle. The Milwaukee Brewers were the Seattle Pilots.

Another interesting piece of trivia. 6 of the 12 playoff teams this year have played in the American League East as recently as 1993.

The Tigers made a good run of it, and it was a hell of a season for them.
Too many damned innings for the Tigers Mariners series.

Toronto can beat Seattle for the league championship. I'm good with that.
