This past 3 days, we had a great visit with our cousins from Long Island (they also have the Vermont compound). And the weather cooperated. On Friday, we walked Long Sands beach, then had lobster dinners at a wharf restaurant on Kittery Point. On Saturday, we walked Marginal way in Ogunquit (to Perkins Cove and back) in the morning. Then in the afternoon they got to see our Seacoast Wind Ensemble play a concert on a lawn in Kennebunkport, followed by another seafood dinner.
On Sunday afternoon, they joined us on York Harbor beach, following the morning rain. They had planned to head out, but traffic was heavy, so they decided to delay their drive home. The temp shot up to 91, and on the beach, the wind kept changing direction. One minute we had a land breeze, the next was off the 53 degree ocean. This continued for most of the time we were there. Eventually, the strong sun won out. It was bizarre to have the wind direction change so often. Usually it shifts once, and that's it.
