I'm really not good at lists; I have a hard time picking one good thing over another good thing. I also obsess over the supposed point of the exercise: Is it my 10 favorites, the 10 I think are best, the 10 I'm most likely to watch over again, the 10 I would still most like to watch today? If I thoroughly enjoyed it, is that good enough? Or does it need to be a landmark movie in some way? Apollo 13 and Captain Phillips are both great movies, but neither had a profound effect on me. And if I was flipping through movie channels at night, and came across one of those - or When Harry Met Sally or The Devil Wears Prada - I'd more likely watch one of the latter, even though they wouldn't make my list.
