I should clarify my post by adding that in some, not all cases, there weren't ANY Vista drivers available for certain peripheral devices - PERIOD. I haven't had this occur in XP. First impressions go a long way with some people in life and in computing and Vista just doesn't give a good first impression.
I think that was true when Vista was first released, but over the last year or more that has not been the case at all. For whatever reason it took vendors much longer to get off their asses and put out decent Vista drivers. Why this is I have no idea, but only those vendors could answer that question.
None the less, I still maintain that there are a lot of folks that never really gave Vista a chance based on people saying stuff just like you are and continuing to say it even when it was no longer true. So, most folks said why bother.
MS did an very long Beta and then RC release, this allowed many folks to get Win 7. Computer manufacturers and peripheral vendors got on board this time well in advance rather than after like they did with Vista.
Vista really wasn't as bad as it is made out to be at all! None the less I think MS is ready to move on and hope that most Windows users upgrade to Win 7. They will ride the good feelings and vendor support to do just that. Also who knows what MS may have done differently this time that they didn't with Vista. I certainly don't, but it appears to me they have been much more end-user, manufacturer and vendor driven with Win 7 and that in and of itself would be a good reason.
Had to block my boss from using limewire, so his PC would stay un-infected.
