That’s range for sure Sad.
Both are good songs and both are crunchy. (Heavy and granola.)
I have to be in the right mood for either of them. The video for the Stevens track is kinda trippy.

@Aaron As I've aged, yes I have to be in a metal mood to get into stuff that's super-heavy. I really liked Carcass' album Heartwork, it's the heaviest album I own. But I almost never listen to it because nowadays, it's the audio equivalent of hitting myself in the temples with ball-peen hammers. There are some exceptions though, sometimes one of my all-time fav metal songs (like this one) will actually PUT me into the mood for metal.

And I love "The Wind" too, but it's not on my 500+ list. However, Tillerman and Firecat are both on my favorite albums of all ever list for sure!

Brown Eyed Girl......That song.
Undeniably fun and nostalgic for sure. Undeniably good. Undeniably overplayed.
Every time I think my band has it crossed off of our playlist, someone goes, "Ugh..... I'm tired of it too....but it always gets chicks on the dance floor...... We should probably run through it......"
It's been over a year and half since we played out, and that was a party at a VFW. It was a year before that that we played before that..... Can't the song rest in peace?

Sounds like "Brown-Eyed Girl" is the rock n roll version of "Hallelujah".

Leonard Cohen’s ballad “Hallelujah” has become so inescapable that the songwriter once asked for a break from his own track. “I think it’s a good song, but too many people sing it,” he told The Guardian in 2009, agreeing with a critic for The New York Times who asked for a moratorium on “Hallelujah” in movies.

For me, it's Cranberries "Zombie". Seems like every band with a female singer covers it. I've had to tell my band over and over "NO! Don't make us be another one on the endless train of hacks that play that one!" I like the original, but I can't get away from crappy regurgitations of it! Especially having to suffer non-Irish singers doing their awful version of "ay-AH, ay-AH, ay-AH" through the whole thing, oy vey-AH

When the kids were young, we took them to Point Sebago for a week, each summer for 5 years in a row. It's a camp resort (on Sebago lake in Maine), where you could stay in your own tent or trailer, or their trailer or cottage. It's been around for 50 years, and people would go for 10 or 20 years straight. The main attraction is that the kids (of every age group) are occupied all day by activities, run by camp counselors. The parents are free to sit on the beach, drink all day, and go to the pavillion for happy hour from 4-6 pm. That was like a frat party for adults, and they always had regional live music. And without fail, the performer would sing Brown Eyed Girl and Sweet Caroline. Every day. And we were all drunk, so we thought it was great. And then at 6 pm, we'd stagger out and pickup our kids from the counselors. Good times.

I think I've been to Sebago Lake. My in-laws (at the time, my girlfriend's parents) had a campsite on a lake in Maine - pretty sure it was that one. I visited once and my (now) Mother-in-law made me sleep in the back of a hatchback, because me sleeping in the camper was a "HELL NO". Of course, the day after we got married it was all "SO WHERE ARE THE GRANDCHILDREN?!" We made her wait seven years =P

Hearing the exact same songs every day made me laugh - reminds me of this:

#193 Run DMC "It's Tricky"

Before 1989, I could probably count all of the rap songs I knew on my fingers and toes. This is one of those fingers (or toes) and it still holds up as one of the best ever. The whole platter is fly, actually. Word.

After reading too much Steven King, it would be a cold day in hell before I camped anywhere in Maine.

#192 Anthrax "Only"

James Hetfield told Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian that "Only" was a "perfect song". Not 'only' is this song one of the best metal songs of the 90s, but the whole album is incredible.

Great tune. It’s good to see a rap group with enough of a sense of humor that they let themselves get bested by Penn & Teller.

Only is awesome. Like I said before, I don’t know why I don’t own any Anthrax. Another reminder that I need to correct that issue.

#190 Bob Seger "The Fire Inside"

Love the poignant lyrics of this one. I remember listening to this back when I was 21 -- it was always a reminder not to just date and fool around forever, and then end up alone forever as one of those creepy old barflys still looking for Mrs Right among the other broken leftovers (no offense to anyone 40+ and single, I'm jealous of you in some ways!!). I still can't believe it didn't even make the Hot 100, I was sold on it my very first listen as a classic.

My wife and I were just talking about this song. How it was an upbeat song with a depressing message. Like Dreams by Fleetwood Mac.

#191 King's X "Over My Head"

One of many bands I discovered from MTV's Headbangers Ball. Taint no one else like 'em. This album is one of my fav of all evers.

Those guys are great.
I was watching a video a few weeks ago about Ty Tabor's rig from back in the day. Everyone was trying to figure out how he got his sound, and there was something about a fake piece of equipment that his sound guy put in his rack or something. I have to look for the video again.

Wow I never thought about that!! People trying to figure out how different guitarists get their tone, so putting gear in your rack you didn't actually use to throw them off. That's like people at KFC saying "Yeah those secret 11 herbs and spices, the most important one is the ghost pepper! Lots of it!"

#189 Evanescence "My Immortal (Band Version)"

One of many examples of the "amazing first album/bad second album/good third album" bands. The lyrics on this one really tug at the heartstrings. Not sure if it was written about a parent & child, or two lovers -- but it kinda works for both and hits hard for either interpretation.
