Wow I never thought about that!! People trying to figure out how different guitarists get their tone, so putting gear in your rack you didn't actually use to throw them off. That's like people at KFC saying "Yeah those secret 11 herbs and spices, the most important one is the ghost pepper! Lots of it!"
They seem to have been effing with people more than anything. It’s not like EVH turning his back to the audience when he started doing his tapping. Hell, Flock os Seagulls posted a video of themselves playing I Ran where they show you the chords, tab, and important effects settings.
#189 Evanescence "My Immortal (Band Version)"

One of many examples of the "amazing first album/bad second album/good third album" bands. The lyrics on this one really tug at the heartstrings. Not sure if it was written about a parent & child, or two lovers -- but it kinda works for both and hits hard for either interpretation.

She’s got a great voice. I like the whole fire and ice , soft / heavy thing that they do.

#188 Tenacious D "Fuck Her Gently"

Been to a few concerts where the sound guy plays this one between bands and I'm singing every word with about 100 other people in the crowd. So much fun. Another good one to bring a crowd together in harmony is Rehab "Bartender Song".

#186 Mushroomhead "Solitaire Unraveling"

The band has been tight-lipped on what this moshpit crusher that references Rembrandt and Han Solo is about. But one thing's for sure - it's awesome for when you're weightlifting.

#187 Sass Jordan "High Road Easy"

Most of the rock I like is heavy rock, but there a collection of just good ol' shit-kickin' knee-slappin' down-home butt-shakin' feel-good hyphenated-word rock and roll that aren't headbangers. Like this one!

I like Sass Jordan. I only have here first 2 albums. By the time her third containing this song had come out I had drifted to more alternative and less "good ol' shit-kickin' knee-slappin' down-home butt-shakin' feel-good hyphenated-word rock and roll".

A lot of texture there. There’s more melody than I had expected too. If it wasn’t for all of the changes and variety, I might not have made it to the end. Better than I expected.
#185 Mono "Life In Mono"

I first heard this in the background of a commercial for a film and was intrigued. I eventually found the song and have been mesmerized by it ever since. Gives me chills.

I like the trip-hop stuff. Sneaker Pimps we’re great.

Not to derail this thread, but the album version of 6 Underground is quite a bit different. It's faster, higher-pitched, and Kelli's voice is very chipmunk-like. It doesn't include any background rapping

The Nellee Hooper remix is the one heard on the radio, which is genius-ly slowed down

#184 Ben Folds Five "Brick"

Is there a way to "untag" someone, so Hectic doesn't see this post? I can understand why someone wouldn't like this song - same way an old school Metallica fan could hate "Nothing Else Matters", or my first reaction to Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under The Bridge". But these lyrics about taking your girlfriend to get an abortion, then having to tell her parents about it because there are complications afterward, are heavy as hell.

Let's just say this; when you list an artist I also like, you tend to pick a song from them I dislike, or got tired of.

#183 Circle Of Dust "Mesmerized"

Before the industrial drum-n-bass rock of one-man-band Celldweller, he was the industrial metal one-man-band Circle Of Dust. This song, however, has a strong acoustic foundation, making it a dark mesh of synthetic and organic elements along the lines of NIN "Piggy" and "Hurt".

I like the music, but the vocals aren’t quite my thing.
Stavesacre "Gold And Silver"
Kind of a Perfect Circle vibe.
#181 Dee Lite "Groove Is In The Heart"

I hate hate HATED this song when it first came out. Then one day something just clicked and I "got it". Same thing happened with Cake "The Distance".

I always liked this song. Its got hook for miles, and BOOTSY! Dig.

#180 Run DMC "Walk This Way"

I've got four rap songs in a row. It's funny how I've found some quotes about how both DMC and Aerosmith both liked the idea of collaborating and liked each others' music, but I've also found quotes about how neither side wanted to do it and Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons at the label basically said, "do it anyway".

I think the songs work well together. I have always thought Aerosmith's original was pretty close to rap anyways.
