Political Talk Forum

"Name recognition, likability and general presence." I'm sorry, Mister scotch, but Taylor Swift won't be old enough to run for President until December 13, 2024.

There's always the no-holds-barred political forum on that *other* site – if you don't mind a few certain people quoting and then altering your posts, calling you childish demeaning names and spewing profanity-laced insults and accusations. These same people then claim to have no idea why others won't discuss political issues with them.

DRC's site is much friendlier. We can talk about politics as long as we don't talk about politics. ;)
For shits and giggles I went over there. I am not sure why you even bother posting over there. You also enjoy banging your head against a wall?

Rather than acknowledge I'm banging my head against a wall, I prefer to think of myself as a voice crying in the wilderness. One person over there spent eight years constantly criticizing Barack and Michelle Obama. He's spent the past three years attacking everyone who criticizes Trump. His attitude is: "Freedom of speech applies to me, not you." If Mister Aaron and Mister Hectic were to read some of the political threads over there, they'd probably faint from shock!

Nope. Wouldn't faint.
We just realized how futile it is, and how it turns a community that normally gets along well together, against each other.

Just sick and tired of the stupidity of it all.

I agree. Discussions are friendly in every forum except the political forum. There, a small number of people constantly attack everyone who disagrees with them and nobody ever changes anyone else's mind on any issue. The long-running Hatfield-McCoy feud finally ended in 2003. The feuds in that political forum will never end. DRC is an oasis.
;)

I don't know about that. Over there, if you go to the Decades forum and suggest that "the 80s channel isn't that bad" you get pretty jumped upon. Kool Aid is a required drink whichever forum over there.

Now I have to point out that the Jim Jones cult members committed suicide by drinking grape Flavor Aid laced with cyanide. The now-common expression about gullible people "drinking the Kool-Aid" is wrong, wrong, wrong. And now that you mention it, yes, the '80s channel is too rock-oriented and ignores hundreds of big hits. Thank you for your interest.

Speaking of which, here is an explanation of the impeachment inquiry. It is not a "hoax," it is not a "witch hunt," it is not "illegitimate" and it is not "unconstitutional." Thank you and good night.

Can somebody wake me up just before the Constitutional crisis begins? I would hate to miss it.

Trump threatens top Democrats with lawsuits

Interesting that impeachment itself is not a legal (civil) action, so a lawsuit would not seem to apply. Also, I don't think any of the hundreds of lawsuit threats he's made have gone forward.

Los Angeles Times political columnist Doyle McManus looks at the similarities – and differences – of the Watergate scandal and the Ukraine scandal. Both Nixon and Trump attempted to "hobble" a Democratic opponent and both Nixon and Trump displayed abuse of power, obstruction of justice and contempt of Congress. However, there was bipartisan support for Nixon's impeachment, whereas right now the support for Trump's impeachment is heavily partisan – but that may change.

Mister scotch said Trump's base "gets a kick" out of what Trump says and does. That probably includes this video, too – but I consider it to be shocking, outrageous and an invitation to violence:
