i think that most people see the story, think something like "yea that mostly fits what i already think" and then just go about their day without bothering to look it up else ware. so yea laziness.

Critical thinking is a habit and a skill. Questioning your own beliefs and assumptions, doubting yourself, fact checking, all of that requires effort. In my mind those who are too lazy to question news stories, especially the preposterous sounding ones, lack the ability for critical thinking.

When I was 7 or 8 my uncle was a surly teen. He mocked stuff we saw on TV and thought everything was probably deceptive. I was impressed. It seemed like such a cool posture that I immediately adopted it. It has served me well.

you're the puppy. you hear some juicy death news and want to run and tell us here but then remember how often that doesn't work and get sad.

ok, yea not the best analogy. (haha anal-ogy. i should stick to that level of humor.)
I'll choose to ignore the pathetic picture of me you've drawn.

^This.

Studies have shown that by the age of 25 or so, a person's political orientation is set. They then spend the rest of their lives looking for articles that reinforce what they already believe. It just happens that on one side of the aisle, reinforcement comes in the form of fact-checking; while on the other side, it comes from not fact-checking.
Is that for real?
I don't feel like checking it out.

When GWB & the GOP tried pulling the wool over our eyes by saying we needed to go into Iraq & take out grandpa, I knew it was time for me to leave the right & start pushing further left. I was already leaning that way. Inequality & healthcare where two big issues for me.

That was in 2002 when I was 32

I started rewatching Mad Men. I completely forgot about Don Draper's pussy grab

Depends on who controls the courts.

I doubt it will make it to the Supreme Court.

Donald MF Trump is a Godless man. He's lied and already broken campaign promises. When it comes to who he will appoint for the vacant Supreme Court seat, it'll be someone who cares more about big business than what evangelicals want.
