I got one of those about 2 years ago. I think it was only $125 or so.
I didn’t think it was anything more than a department store quality watch.
It’s ok and has held up well enough.

I never thought about the possibility of getting my name screen printed on a watch and having my own brand........ Cool.

I've been a watch guy for like 3+ years now and I still struggle to size pin and collar bracelets. I've been playing with my other Protreks since I got the new one and I have a titanium ana-digi that I've talked about here but I haven't worn it since I lost a bunch of weight so I needed to take out a link. It took me like 30 mins to pull 1 link then reclose the bracelet. argh. I guess I should just be happy I didn't lose any of the collars. Those things are tiny.

I have no personal experience with them but Youtube is filled with videos about their major lack of quality control. Like second hands that don't hit the ticks...which is ok for like a $40 Timex but not a $100+ watch and even worse, dust under the crystal. And those are just the things that come right to mind.

Get one of those watch repair kits. They are something like $30. They have a link tool that makes that stuff easy.

I must have gotten lucky with my MVMT. It doesn't have any of those issues.

i have a wall clock w a pengulm. i have to wind it like once a month. it has a key and 2 winding holes. pops bought it before i was born so its mine now and i just deal w it i guess

it's annoying and drives me crazy w the ticking. and worst of all it cant keep time. its like 5 minutes fast a week. you guys know im a watch person, so that bothers me, kinda a lot.

it's not even fancy, i think he got it from like sears in 1970.

he had a fancy clock. he got from his mom and i got from him. I don't have room for it so it lives at my aunt's place now. it has cool brass weights that somehow tell the time

The cool thing is that it has both a fully lumed dial and bezel along with tritium tubes on the hands and hour markers. It's kinda chunky at 16mm tall but I guess they have to make room for the tritium.

I like this thing. I've wanted a tritium watch for awhile now and also getting a fully lumed dial is always cool.

True. I've seen horror stories of the tubes becoming unglued and falling to the bottom of the watch. However, most of the microbrands that find their way to the Youtube watch channels I frequent are of surprisingly high quality. I only have one microbrand watch at the moment, my Islander pilot watch from Marc are Long Island Watch. That thing is every bit as good as my various Seikos.

Recently I've been sporting my Garmin "watch" as my daily driver. It has the feel and look of a G-Shock, just with more features. I played with the face options to have my pulse always displaying on the main time screen. I get a kick out of checking it throughout the day at a glance. I used to have the barometer in that spot but it was always wrong. Casio does much better with that sensor. But it doesn't really matter w/the Garmin since it's kinda a smartwatch so it has a current weather screen that is linked to my phone. It also gets great battery life since it's not a full fledged smartwatch. Even with using the GPS for about 2 hour/day I can get about 5-7 days on one charge. You can also make custom activity trackers so I made one for Disney and I'm kinda looking forward to using it on Monday.

I'm sure I'll get back into my real watches at some point in the not too distant future.

So far my most expensive watch ever was about $850 and I wound up selling that one and getting 3 Seikos in its place.

For the real expensive ones, you can probably buy a cheap knockoff for half the price and most people won't know the difference. Most people won't notice its a Rollex rather than a Rolex.

Half price for a $10k watch is still $5k. No one is buying a $5k knockoff. If your friend's Rolex has a quartz movement, it's a fake.

I know I've said it before but my favorite watch is my half metal positive screen square that I modded but with all OG metal square parts.

I just love the square. I know it's an INSANE markup just for sapphire and titanium but it is what it is. There is something attractive to me about having a watch that normies will think might be worth $50 but Casio people and real watch people will know the truth. The stealth wealth model. That said, I'm not going to buy it. I really want to but I can't drop that much on a watch when I already have like 5 half and full metal squares.

Dude, that's gross. For the price of a knockoff you could get a cheap automatic Seiko or the actual $40 square and have a real watch. I would feel dirty wearing a knockoff. I'd rather (haha) not wear a watch at all.

Your post about the Casio reminded me to check in on the Hamilton Ventura that I was lusting after some time ago. They were going to put out a quartz version that was going to be less outrageously priced. They rotate the models regularly. I think the exact one I wanted is already gone, but the have some others that are less than $1000 that I like. Still won’t be getting one soon, but at least the price isn’t outrageous.

My folks game me a watch for the birthday. It's a Blue and Gold Daniel Steiger. I hadn't heard of that brand? It's quite gaudy, but I like that!
