The Colorado Rockies toward mid-season. 34.5 games out of first place in the NL West. 24 games behind the 4th place team in the NL West (D-Backs).

The commissioner of baseball says one day Major League baseball will return to the mile-high city! :roflmao:

The Jays completed their first 4 game sweep of the New York Yankees at home today with an 8-5 victory. They now sit alone in first place 1 game up on both the Yankees and the Rays (who did not play today). They are 4 games in the loss column behind Detroit for best overall record in AL. We host the Angels next and if history has shown itself, we will likely get swept by them as we seem to have the most trouble beating the less fortunate teams. We lost a season series to the Chicago White Sox in Toronto earlier this month.

Another good night. They Jays were up 3-0 going into the 7th. They gave up a 3 run HR. No further scoring until the bottom of the 10th when Ernie Clement tried to bunt runners on 1st and 2nd up. The Angels misplayed and the winning run scored. Combine this with another Yankees loss and a Tampa loss, the lead in the division is now 2.

The Jays win streak continues with another extra inning walkoff win. The Yankees lost again and Tampa also lost so the lead is now 3 games. I know baseball is fickle and losing streaks can happen as easy as winning streaks but this feels good.

The Blue Jays have had five 11-game winning streaks: 1987, 1998, 2013 and two in 2015. Fans in 2015 were hopeful the Blue Jays would make it to the World Series. They didn't. It was Royals vs. Mets.

Jays win again. Yankees and Rays also win so status quo.

Jays now go on the road to visit the White Sox. The Yankees host Seattle who is the 3rd wild card team only 1 game behind the Yankees and Rays.

And in the series everybody was glued too: The White Sox took 2 out of 3 in Colorado.

Jays win again in Chicago against the White Sox. Final score was 8-4. The Yankees had the night off and the Rays lost to the Tigers 5-1 so the Jays now lead the Yankees by 3.5 and the Rays by 4. Streak is now 9 games.

When it rains it pours ... like it did in Chicago. The Jays vs White Sox game was called after 6 innings due to rain. They Jays wind up winning 6-1 making their win streak 10 in a row. The Yankees beat Seattle but the Rays lost again to the Tigers. Jays still up 3.5 over the Yankees but 5 games over Tampa.

Looking at overall standings, the Tigers are games ahead of us in the loss column. The Astros are 2 but they are in extra innings against Cleveland so we may gain a game. Would be nice if we are winning to grab one of those bye positions.

So this week the Jays went 3-3 against the 2 worst teams in the AL. The Yankees swept the Mariners (right out wild card spot -- but they got back in by sweeping the Tigers). The Yankees then lost series 2-1 to Cubs. They went 4-2 for the week. The Rays lost 2/3 to the Tigers and got swept by the Red Sox to go 1-5 for the week and out of wild card spot. The team which is now coming in hot is those nasty Boston Red Sox who have won 10 in a row. So at the all star break Jays still lead the AL East with a 2 game lead on the Yankees. 3 on the Rex Sox and 5.5 on the Rays. The Sox have played more games so its a 4 game lead in the loss column.

Jays have tough schedule post all-star break. They face Giants, Yankees, @Tigers(4). We play 3 @Dodgers later in August.

So tonight in Toronto at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre there was a Jehova's Witness convention. I had to double check since it was not Saturday morning @ 7AM. But they were indeed there.

Right next to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre is the CN Tower. Right next to that is the Rogers Centre. At the Rogers Centre tonight the Toronto Blue Jays hosted the San Francisco Giants. We were at this game. The game was well attended. The bandwagon fans are out in full force.

The Giants 3B was Chapman who was a 3B with Toronto for several seasons. He was a defensive 3B and his offence never really amounted to much. I think Toronto had hoped it would. He received a polite round of applause the first couple times he was introduced.

The Jays starting pitcher was Bassit. The guy always looks surly. Once when he struck out the last batter of the inning I thought I saw him smile ever so briefly. But then back to his ice stare. The Giants started someone I thought had retired years ago -- Justin Velander. He whized through the first inning but ran into issues in the 2nd giving up 4 runs. He never made it out of the third pitching 2.2 and taking the L. Basset and the bullpen pitched exceptionally. They gave up hits but they were scattered. The Giants bullpen also pitched well and the 4 runs by Venander were the only runs given up. Jays win 4-0.

It was a good night for the Jays elsewhere as well. Yankees and Red Sox lost. Tampa won. Seattle is playing Houston in one of the west coast games. Houston has one fewer losses than Toronto in the fight for first round bye. Detroit also lost and now only has 2 more losses themselves.

Jays lead the East with NYY trailing by 3, Red Sox by 4 and Tampa by 5.5.

So the Jays sweep the Giants. The Jays home win streak is now at 10.

The Yankees take 2/3 against the Braves. The Red Sox win 1/3 against the Cubs. They Rays take 2/3 against the Oreos. So Jays lead Yanks by 3, Red Sox by 5 and Tampa by 6.5 in AL East. RIght now Tampa is out as a wildcard. Seattle is in.

Meanwhile Houston has lost 2 to Seattle so Jays are now #2 in AL East sitting in the second bye position (1 game ahead in the loss column). Detroit has lost 2 to Texas so they they are now only 1 loss less than the Jays. Houston and Detroit games today are still pending so it could get even better.

Next up for the Jays is 3 games against the Yanks at home before a 4 game set in Detroit.

So the Jays won tonight over the Yankees and the Red Sox lost and the Rays are losing. Lead is now 4 over the Yankess and 6 over Red Sox and potentially 7.5 over the Rays.

But tonight was a Jays record 11th straight win at home. And combined with a Tigers loss and a Cubs loss, the Jays now have a share of the best record in baseball. The 4 games in Detroit will likely decide who is the #1 team. The Tigers swept the Jays earlier in Toronto the Jays need to take 3/4 to gain the tiebreaker.
