So the Jays took 2/3 against the Yanks. They clinched the season series against the Yanks and tiebreaker. First time we have done that in a while. They now head to Detroit for 4.
The Yanks host Philly for 3. In yesterday's game, they Yanks committed 4 errors. I don't think home soil will be a happy place for them.
The Red Sox lost 2/3 to Philly in Philly. They now host the Dodgers for 3.
Tampa lost 2/3 to the White Sox. They now travel to Cincy for 3.
The Jays have a 4 game lead against the Yankees, 6 against the Red Sox and 7.5 against the Rays.

Nick Kurtz of the A's hit 4 home runs tonight against the Astros. He is the 20th MLB player, and the first rookie, to hit 4 home runs in a game.

And my fantasy team couldn't be happier about it.

Well going into today the Jays had the best record in baseball. The Yankees had lost 2 to the Phillies and the Red Sox had split with the Dodgers. Tampa had lost 2 to the Reds. And the Jays had won the first 3 of their series with Detroit (who was on a 1-12 streak -- amazing that they still had a 7+ game lead in the Central). Today the Tigers won one. The Yankees and Red Sox won. Tampa lost again and are on the verge of being irrelevant. So the Jays have a 5.5 lead over the Yankees and a 6.5 lead over the Red Sox. The Rays are 10 back and now exactly at .500. The Tigers had beaten the Jays 2/3 in Toronto so in order to secure tiebreaker we needed to do 3/4 in Detroit which we did. If the Jays are tied with the Tigers at the end of the season, the better seed will go to the Jays. In other good news for the Tigers and the Jays is Houston got swept in a 4 games series by the As. So as it stands now the Jays have 43 losses, the Tigers and Astros have 46 losses. Houston has win 2/3 of the games played so far against Detroit. Detroit hosts Houston for 3 more starting Aug 18. That will likely decide that tiebreaker. In case you are wondering, the Astros swept the Jays in Houston earlier. The Jays host Houston starting Sept 9th for 3. If Houston wins one, they clinch the tiebreaker over the Jays. I don't know how baseball breaks a 3-3 tiebreaker or multi-team ties.

Jays are tied with the Cubs and the Brewers in the loss column for best record. The Jays are technically still #1 as they have 1 more win.

Ichiro Suzuki and 4 others were inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame today.

One of the others was William Wagner also known as Billy the Kid. The significance is that the Blue Jay third baseman Will Wagner was on Restricted list for the weekend so he could watch his father be inducted.

So it was a disaster in Baltimore. Jays lost 3/4. Yankess won 2/4 against the Rays (one still playing today) and the Red Sox won 2/3 against the Twins.

The Jays have traded for a C, SP and a RP over the last couple of days. We gave up some prospects and Will Wagner. One of the trades happend with Baltimore in the middle of the double header. He played in the second game.

Jays have a mini 3 game home stand now against the Royals. The Red Sox host Houston and the Yankees visit Miami.

The Jays are tied with the Tigers for the best record in the AL. They lead the AL East by 4 games and the Red Sox by 5.

Well the Jays lost 2 out of 3 to KC including an extra inning loss today. The Red Sox swept Houston. The Yankees imploded in Miami. Game 1 Friday they held 6-0 and 9-4 leads. And led 12-10 with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th with runners at 1st and 2nd. A single to RF to newly aquired OF went under his glove so intead of 12-11 with runners at 1st and 2nd it was 12-12 with runner at 3rd. Next batter hit a ball maybe 5 feet ahead of the plate. The catcher had to play it and the runner scored. Most of the runs given up were to the Yankees many bullpen additions. The meltdown waas glorious. Florida won the next 2 games as well.

Jays lead the Red Sox by 3 and the Yankees by 4.5.

Jays head for 3 games in Colorado. Red Sox host KC for 3. Yankees visit Texas for 3.

If Detroit loses to Philly tonight, Jays will still have share of best record in AL.

We need some wins.

And the Marlins (of all teams) just swept the Yankees.
I just heard that the Miami Marlins are the only franchise with a over-all winning record against the New York Yankees. That is beyond weird given how much Miami has generally sucked through it's existence.

Just for giggles I checked if the Rockies have any historical winning records against other teams. The San Diego Padres.

The Colorado Rockies, the only team that can't score runs at COORS FUCKING FIELD!! Their home park no less!

If it makes you feel any better, we feel quite sorry for you.

My son and I were talking and we think there should be a rule added something like this one:

After a game becomes official, at the end of a complete inning or in the middle of an inning where the home team is behind, where the total deficit is 7 or greater runs, the team with the fewer runs should have the option to end the game.

A mercy rule.

That's the only thing, usually a 7-run or more deficit is no big deal at a Mile High. Just have to have a team that can play offense.
