From that article speaking about the Rockies:

They now have a run differential of -316 for the season. Their 114 games are the fewest to reach a -300 run differential since 1900, surpassing the 1911 Boston Rustlers (118 games). The last team to reach the mark in fewer games was the 1899 Cleveland Spiders, which did so in 73 games before folding at the end of the season.

That's the only thing, usually a 7-run or more deficit is no big deal at a Mile High. Just have to have a team that can play offense.
If they thought that was true, they could not invoke it. But down 12-1 going into the 9th would that not be a better than putting in a catcher as pitcher to give up 8 more runs?

Jon already mentioned the Jays feat. The Red Sox won 2/3 against KC in Boston. They lost the game today. The Yankees had lost 5 in a row including the first 2 to Texas in Texas. Had they lost today they would have been looking from outside a playoff spot. But they won today so they keep the last playoff spot. The Yankees demise has been incredibly satisfying to watch. They blew a 9th inning lead on Monday against Texas and then in the 10th chose to IBB a guy to pitch to a guy who then hit a game winning 3 run HR. The pitcher was one of the players they traded for at the deadline. He has since been demoted to AAA (LOL).

The Jays lead the AL East by 4 games on Boston and 6.5 on the Yankees.

The Tigers lost 2/3 vs the Twins in Detroit so now trail the Jays by 2 in overall standings. Houston won 2/3 against the Marlins and now trail by 3 games.

The Jays head to Los Angeles for a 3 game series with the Dodgers. Last time we faced them was last year in Toronto and the Dodgers destroyed the Jays. Hope for a better result this time. The Yankees host Houston for 3. The Red Sox are also on the left coast playing the Padres.

The Tigers host the Angels for 3 games.

Which team is most likely to win the 2025 World Series? Here are the latest odds from the BetMGM online sportsbook. They are based on a bet of $100. For example, for every $100 you bet on the Dodgers, you will receive $350 ($250 plus the original bet of $100) if they win.

Dodgers +250
Phillies +750
Tigers +900
Blue Jays +1200
Brewers +1200
Astros +1300
Mariners +1300
Mets +1300
Yankees +1300
Cubs +1600

Last on the list are the White Sox at +200000 and the Rockies at +200000.

Well, that weekend wasn't pleasant. I just want to say outright that the baseball franchise I despise the most is the Los Angeles Dodgers. Even more than the New York Yankees which says a lot.

We did escape with 1 win in the 3 game series. We won today 5-4. Los Angeles left the bases loaded both in the bottom of the 8th and the bottom of the 9th. In the 8th they got a run to tie it. We got a HR in the top of the 9th. In the bottom of the 9th it was bases loaded with Otanni at the plate with 1 out. He struck out. Bettas hit into a force to end the game. Both of those off Michael Flarity who got his first major league save. Our "closer" gave up the tying run in the 8th and loaded the bases in the 9th so he got pulled.

We come out no further ahead or behind. We retain a 4 game lead on Boston who won 1/3 against the Padres in San Diego. They Yankees hosted Houston and lost 2/3 to remain 6.5 games back. The NL West race also remained unchanged with the Dodgers holding on to the 2 game lead over San Diego.

The Tigers and Astros each gained a game on the Jays for overall lead in AL. I think Milwaukee has pretty much wrapped up overall MLB lead.

The Jays host the Cubs for 3 in Toronto. I have my last game of the year for this series on Wednesday. The Red Sox travel to Houston for 3. And the Yankees host the Twins for 3.

With regards to our "closer" Jeff Hoffman's performance today, he becomes the first pitcher since at least 1901 (meaning they don't have accurate records prior) to give up 5+ walks in less than 1 inning of work and get credited with the win.

Proof positive that baseball has a hole bunch of useless records and statistics.

'Sell the team': Fed-up fans' passionate cry is spreading through sports

The article only mentions a few teams.

The Athletics
Chicago White Sox
Colorado Rockies
Pittsburgh Pirates
Seattle Mariners

Other Potentials:
St. Louis Cardinals, Tampa Bay Rays, Washington Nationals, Anaheim Angels, Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles and Miami Marlines

I don’t know why Seattle and Biltmore would be on the list. Seattle has been a contender for the past couple of years, but as usual they come up short and miss the playoffs. I knew Baltimore has its ups and downs of its seasons.

I would add the Arizona Diamondbacks to the list. The owners haven’t really put up much money for better players and let go of good ones. Plus, they were asking for a new stadium. Where Chase Field is still great ballpark. It hasn't been updated much in the past 30 years. With the roof cable broken, now its being replaced. The old scoreboards don't work anymore. Some plumbing, A.C., concrete and steel issues in the ballpark. Now the city finally passed a bill where the stadium will finally get updated. Plus, there were some rumors, that Salt Lake could lure the D-backs like they did to the Coyotes.

The Dodgers have played the Angels 154 times since 1997. Last night the Angels beat the Dodgers, 6-5. It was their seventh consecutive win against the Dodgers and this is the first season the Angels have won all six of their games against the Dodgers.
