Overplayed songs:

Satellite radio is notorious for this.

Live TV services:

They've outlived their usefulness for me, the 'News' networks are so sensationalized, and more problems with the aforementioned commercial breaks during sports, plus TV Networks like TBS have become the all 'Big Bang Theory' channel. Youtube TV raising their rates was the deal breaker.
Fortunately, I really like SiriusXMU, and they never play songs to death. They do play the new songs often enough that an old guy like me can become familiar, but that's good.

As for "live TV", we watch local news twice a day, and Mrs. Scotch watches one of the network morning shows. Then there's the local daily newsmagazine show, and Jeopardy. After that, it's either Bravo, HGTV, a streaming service, Network TV, or perhaps a talking head. Of course the weekend is for sports and entertainment. I can't imagine not having live TV. I was unhappy with the price increase on YTTV, but the other choices have all gone up too.

Or if one more movie uses “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”. There are plenty other songs. How many movies are going to use that one. Lazy filmmaking.

SiriusXMU is one I'll give credit to, they don't overplay anything. What's always nice on the Spectrum is when they play David Fricke's 'Writer's Block' which plays stuff guaranteed to not repeat regularly. Outlaw Country is another that doesn't overdo it.

Another dislike:
Neighbors with noisy leaf blowers. Why do those things have to be so loud? Why does it bother people so much that a few too many leaves have fallen and are now sitting on their driveway. So they blow them off to the side just so the next windy day can blow them back.

Spirit In The Sky, a 1970 #3 hit by Norman Greenbaum and the Stovall Sisters, has appeared in 65 movies including Michael, Suicide Squad, Sunshine Cleaning, Apollo 13, Ocean's Eleven, Wayne's World 2, The Sandlot 2 and Remember The Titans. The song has also been used in 30 commercials and many television shows.

I'm old enough to remember when movie soundtracks featured new songs written just for the movie. Producers now tell their assistants, "Buy the rights to a bunch of oldies and stick 'em in the movie. It doesn't matter if they have absolutely nothing to do with the plot. This is cheaper than paying songwriters for new material."

Have you ever met a person that actively dislikes dogs? I've met girls that are indifferent and put off by them but that's about the worst ever.
A lady in my building gets all upset if she has to share an elevator with my dog. But she is a raging bitch and rude as hell so I no longer accommodate her irrationality. This just makes here more obnoxious.

I love this and you're absolutely doing the right thing. She is like you said incredibly irrational and normal people should not be forced to submit to the irrational whims of others. There's being polite and nice to other people's feelings and then there's also not allowing other people to alter your life just because they are abnormal.

Also you haven't interesting history with buildings and animals. A few weeks ago you told us about how a stray cat got in an elevator and went up like eight floors and that's how you became a cat owner because it showed up at your front door after using the elevator on its own to get to you like it was a cartoon cat in a kids movie. And now you have some old maid who hates it if a dog on a leash gets in an elevator next to her?

I wonder what story you'll tell us next.

Dislike:
When a streaming service automatically starts the next movie. I didn’t ask to start the next movie and didn’t even express interest in it.
I dislike this too!

When I'm at my in-laws (commercials aplenty) I find hearing a familiar song makes me look at the TV, no matter how much I don't want to. It's a Pavlov thing.

The unfortunate result is that you end up associating a good song with some shitty product. Like when I hear "Anticipation" by Carly Simon, I think of Heinz ketchup. I believe "Still the One" by Orleans has been used a lot too.

Nowadays I can't hear 'Like A Rock' by Seger without thinking Chevy Trucks. Although it makes since being their both based in Detroit.

On the other hand the Apple iPod/iPhone commercials (with the silhouettes dancing) introduced me to some pretty good songs I otherwise would never have heard. 'Ride' by the Vines and 'Jerk It Out' by Caesars are in my collection thanks to that.

Most Ironic one I can think of is Carnival Cruise Lines using 'Lust for Life' by Iggy Pop despite the 'liquor and drugs' references in the song.

There are many soundtracks they use, where they only play part of the song or lyrics. I think that overall, Lust for Life is a good song for a cruise line. Here is an example of the extreme editing I mentioned. First the ad, then the full song

Cadillac "No Barriers" ad

Run the Jewels - Nobody Speak

Speaking of carnival I saw sad fucking video this morning about how they ship all their old ships to somewhere in Pakistan and then people in Pakistan who have never seen an ocean before. Get shipped in to take them apart and it's a super dangerous job and apparently Pakistan sucks so they only make about $4 a day doing death defying work.

One dude they interviewed straight up said we're desperate so we have to do this. And that's a giant bummer.

Now it is from Business insider and we all know what that organization is about. But I don't see how they could fake that one dude in the first like 2 minutes saying the shit about him being desperate.
