They've run hit pieces on Tim Dillon and Dave Portnoy. To name a couple.

Here are a couple of things I've developed strong opinions on

Like:
- My BMW. Specifically, the 2006 - 2012 3-series and derivatives (which include the 1- and Z-series). They all share the same chassis and drivetrain, with the 3.0 liter straight-six engine and 6-speed manual transmission. I've owned 3 of these cars: a 2006 Z4 roadster, a 2011 128i convertible, and now a 2008 328i convertible. They are just magic on wheels, and my current one is the best of them all. I'm not a fan of the newer models, or the other series of cars from them. And just as a reminder, I paid $12k for my current car. It's not a rich-person car.

Dislike:
- Our Dyson vacuum. I'll start with this disclaimer; if you have a Dyson vacuum, and you like it, then good for you. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. I'm just describing my experience.

Mrs. Scotch has always bought Miele vacuums. When our last one got old and crappy, she ordered a replacement, but was expecting more for the price, so she returned it. And instead, she wanted to try a Dyson. I always saw Dyson as one of those slick, marketing-driven snake-oil companies, but if she was willing to try one, then what the hell.

The first thing I noticed, is that the wall charger had no indicator light. The vacuum has a charge-level indicator, but it just shows the level of the battery, not whether it's successfully charging. So when I first set it up, I had a hard time verifying if it was connecting and charging. Moving to the power switch, we are used to having a foot pedal switch to turn on the old vacuum. With the Dyson, it has a hand trigger like a gun, and it's in the only place to grab the unit. There's no way to handle the vacuum without constantly starting it accidentally. But then after using the vacuum for a few minutes, you realize how stupid it is to have to constantly squeeze the trigger. My hand gets cramped. Why is there no trigger lock? Why can't it just click on, and then click again for off?

The whole unit is made of a shiny, hard plastic, that feels like something from the '80s. And the thing will not stand up on it's own! If you need to put it down for a minute, what do you do? It won't even stand up against a wall or counter. It's also very noisy. Those TV commercials where it sounds like a hushed whisper are bullshit. And the whole time you're using it, you're basically scraping the plastic head across your floor. There are little, tiny front wheels, and then a rubber strip in the back. But most of the head is in contact with the floor, which also explains why it's so hard to control the direction.

It also doesn't pick-up many things well; it clogs easily; and the battery lasts for maybe 15-20 minutes on low, but less than 10 minutes on high. Other than that, it's great.

Another major dislike: Trying to listen to/watch a game, and they're doing interviews while the action is going on. Especially annoying when you're trying to listen to a baseball game on the radio, where it's awfully hard to visualize without play by play.

EMF (Educational Media Foundation) reorganized in January 2025 as K-Love Inc. How many K-Love affiliate stations are there now? I'm glad I asked. There are 536. That includes HD2 and HD3 subchannels and low-power FM translators. Vermont is the only state without a K-Love affiliate. (K-Love Inc. also owns the contemporary worship Air1 network.)

Yeah BIG step down for 107.3 FM in the Boston area...

WKVB (107.3 FM) is a non-commercial radio station licensed to serve Westborough, Massachusetts, United States, carrying a contemporary Christian format known as "K-Love".

Historically, this station is perhaps best known as WAAF, which carried a commercial rock music format for nearly 50 years in various forms of the genre, with an active rock orientation between 1989 and 2020. The station also featured personalities including Bob Rivers, Liz Wilde and Greg Hill, and was the first high-profile radio home for Opie and Anthony in the mid-1990s.

Jon, I should have gotten it – but I didn't. And that was a number-one song! From Wikipedia: "The name EMF is an initialism of Epsom Mad Funkers, a name taken from a fan club of the band New Order."

Something I really hate is commercials that show close-ups of people eating. To use a Paul Lynde catchphrase, that's disgusting!

Dislike - Surveys.

Every time I take a required training class, or go to a restaurant, or go online to pay a bill, or visit a doctor, or get my car serviced, I get a survey. Here are my thoughts on that:

- You're trying to get free labor out of me. Instead of paying your employees to provide good service, you're asking me to spend my time doing your research work, which I'm not being paid for.
- Stop with the "participation ribbon" mentality. If your business is intended to provide a service, and it does so, you don't deserve a pat on the back. Remaining in business is all you should be expecting.
- There are enough type-A people on the planet - who would like nothing better than to give you their opinion - to provide an adequate level of feedback. There is no need to repeatedly demand my opinion.

Something we noticed at every restaurant we went to in Italy and France; they never come back after serving you, and ask "How is everything tasting?". They know that if they sucked, they wouldn't be in business. So they don't need to ask. And besides, why would they care about our bourgeois American opinions?

The survey industry is a massive waste of money.

The sample sizes are usually insufficient questions are usually biased, participants are rarely objective, and the results are typically skewed.

Dislike: I have never, in all the time it's been in existence, seen the attraction of the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest. What is up with that?

I have a level of respect for the people that can do it, but I also have no interest in actually watching it.
