That early 90s funk rock was awesome.

A few of the less-known ones that I loved back then (and still do now)

24-7 Spyz "Spyz Dope"
Electric Boys "All Lips N Hips"
Fishbone "Sunless Saturday"
Infectious Grooves "These Freaks Are Here To Party"
Royal Crescent Mob "Two Sisters"
Scatterbrain "I'm With Stupid"
Urban Dance Squad "Demagogue"

24/7 Spyz were best known for their cover of Kool & The Gang "Jungle Boogie" but the above song is a lot of fun too -- I like it even more.

Scatterbrain is more known for "Down With The Ship" (can you name all of the songs they threw into that one?) and "Don't Call Me Dude" (really funny!). But for a straightforward funk metal song, "Stupid" is the jam.

#179 - Deep Purple - Hush

Another one with a nice groove. The song that introduced me to the band in the first place (no it wasn't Smoke On The Water).

I meant to mention about #180 "Unchained"...

Rock and metal historian/author Eddie Trunk, gave his list of 'the best 20 Van Halen songs of all time' a couple years ago - and it didn't have "Unchained" on it. And he got a rash of shit over it.

#178 - Nirvana - All Apologies (Unplugged)

As much as I like the studio version, the Unplugged version is far superior.

As well he should have. That's a fuckin' JAM.

I've always thought Trunk was a putz. Now I have an extra reason.

#177 - Blink 182 - Dammit

A band that I've been in and out of interest in for a while now, but this one will always remain at the top.

As much as I like a fair amount of Nirvana, I couldn't stand Unplugged. Especially "Man Who Sold The World" and "Lake Of Fire". In fact, "Lake" is on my list of worst songs of all ever.

I do like the studio version of this one though.

I think Unplugged is epic, and they all adjusted their playing style for the setting. I hadn't even heard of Bowie's version of Man... so this introduced me to it. And I was into the Meat Puppets around the time of this, so I thought Lake... was a fun little ditty. But as they say, YMMV.
