Fox Business Network dropped from Sirius XM

Fox Business Network, which was only added to the XM dial in June, was quietly dropped from the Sirius XM Radio lineup last week.
According the Media Bistro, the Fox Business Network was dropped from the XM lineup effective December 27th with little fanfare except for a blurb on their website (which has since disappeared).

The site originally read:

As of December 27th SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio no longer carries FOX Business News XM 136. Check out our other business channels, CNBC Sirius 129 and XM 127 as well as Bloomberg on Sirius 130 and XM 127. We also offer compelling Fox news programming on FOX News XM 121/SIRIUS 131 and FOX News Talk XM 168/SIRIUS 145.

The all-business network's run on XM was short-lived to say the least, having joined the XM dial just six months ago. Former EVP of Programming Eric Logan said at the time,that the signing of the Fox Business Network was "the latest milestone in a long and productive partnership between FOX News and XM."

And while it doesn't appear that the relationship between Fox and Sirius XM is in jeopardy, the fledgling Fox Business Network looks to be another casualty of cost-cutting measures.

With Bloomberg and CNBC, the Fox channel will not be missed other than it was more fair and balanced.

Makes sense. Sirius doesn't have room to add two new music channels, so why should we have 3 damn networks that air the same thing?

I liked listening to Dave Ramsey (daveramsey.com) on the Fox Business Network. I can still DVR that show from my cable network though. Plus, he has a radio show on XM165 (3pm-7pm / Mon-Fri)

Does dropping a talk channel really free up enough bandwidth to add another music channel? I thought the music channels were given more bandwidth.

No, but that wasn't really his point. He was saying they don't have enough bandwidth to add music channels that are missing, yet they have a lot of duplicate talk channels. I think it takes probably like 4 or 5 talk channels bandwidth to do one music channel.

I never realized Fox Biz was on there to begin with...I guess I won't miss it much. Bloomberg does a nice job.

I personally would rather just watch the channel on TV, but Dish Network is dragging their feet getting it on air. Besides for Sat Rad, Bloomberg does an excellent job, and I'd say it's even better than the TV version. Lots of great opinions and information.

I am surprised they don't have Bill trying to shame Sirius into carrying this channel like they did when they dropped Fox before. Mel didn't budge though, he did get a better deal though and didn't allow them to force him to carry channels he didn't want to carry.
