Since Jan 6, I'm convinced there are a lot more holocaust-denying, flat-earthing, chemtrail-snorting, birds-are-fake mothereffers out there than just 15% of us.
You are making assumptions that these 15%s are all the same group. If there is only limited overlap you can get a majority of people crazy each in a different way.

A 2022 University of New Hampshire study found that 10% of Americans believe the earth is flat and 17% do not believe the earth revolves around the sun. Wow.

Bill Dana's 1962 comedy album José Jimenez Talks To Teenagers includes The History Lesson: Christopher Columbus. Here is how it ends: "Some guy up in the crow's place yelled 'Land ho! Land ho!' And they all yelled 'Shut up! Shut up!' But when they realized what 'Land ho' meant, they were all excited and were just going to have a party – when they fell off the end of the earth."

That's pretty sad. I wonder if they have a list of reasons why those people feel that way. Is it ignorance? Conspiracy? Distrust in authority? Or inability to comprehend certain concepts (i.e. stupidity)?

We need a Venn diagram. I know somebody who loves them.

Mister scotch, here is the article about the University of New Hampshire study – or, as Art Linkletter might have referred to it, "People Are Stupid."

I had that meeting I mentioned in the other thread today. When I left to come back to the office, it was a crazy hot, humid, & sunny 101 degrees.

A couple of hours later, after some severe storms passed through, and the temp dropped to 67 degrees.

Apparently, while I was driving, the storm back at the office was severe enough that the tornado sirens went off and everyone had to go to the basement to seek shelter.

A day after this

the heat came to us. But later this afternoon, a cold front is coming in, and the rest of the week will be cool. And then it'll be Labor Day weekend. So today was perhaps my last chance to have lunch on the beach, and it was pretty awesome.

Not only was it hot and humid, but the temp didn't cool-down much along the coast. A full dunk in the ocean was necessary.

And while this was perhaps my 40th trip to the beach this summer, it's likely to be my last shot of summer sunbathing. Unless we get an "Indian summer", or whatever the politically correct term is now.

While eating breakfast at the hotel they had The Weather Channel on. They were all excited about heavy downpours and flash flooding over Texas and Louisiana. If they were any more excited they would have the guy with the raincoat dispatched to the area. I hope you are reasonably dry where you are Aaron. Watch out for the weather guys if you see them.

The last couple of days, the radar looks like it does here, current radar, but it’s been occasional rain so far, nothing too severe.

I'm guessing none of those people live in Phoenix.
I've heard people say things like "Gee, it's hot in Phoenix? What a surprise." Some people are motivated - for business reasons or political reasons - to take a particular stand on the issue, and there's no amount of "evidence" that'll change that.

We had few days of 90+ degrees, upper 80s today and 66 Saturday. The news is already forecasting when peak fall leaf colors. WTF indeed.

We have a cold rainy weekend ahead. Warming up again next week.

Saw this meme on facebook:
September is a lie. It consists of 3 weeks of August, 1 week of October and a weekend from April thrown in.
