I saw this video and it was bit interesting. Some cities are doing away with highways that divide up the cities many years ago.




Taking Out a Highway That Hemmed Rochester In (Published 2016)

This is the city of Rochester, part of the inner loop has been removed what circled in red. Now they want to remove the upper inner loop.

Here is Phoenix, we have an inner loop. I know they would never remove part of it. Everything west, south of I-17 is basically the dumps. East of I-10 is the airport and more dumps. Everything north of I-10 are the nice parts of the city.

Where are the flying cars?

In Phoenix, the city growing way to fast and they can't even keep up with the roads. Less then 15 years ago, they finally brought in light rail to the city. It either made some parts worst and/or improve the area. Yea a lot of business went under when it was under constriction. Now some new shops and apartments have gone up next to the tracks.

Currently they are constructing light rail in south Phoenix. It technically not the best part of the city. Until you go further south near the mountain, when the homes become way nicer.

Where I live in the Phoenix area, light rail was propose to be built. The city shot it down and to me personally it's going to hurt that city. I could see the old downtown district becoming better. There is another section being expanded and I'm somewhat not far from it. Currently a lot of homeless live in that area. Soon they are about to redo the old mall and light rail ready in couple more years. Who knows how that will turn out?

Burying highways is great for cities. Above ground, they act like moats and disrupt development and the natural use patterns of neighborhoods.

Many years ago this was the original proposed idea for the highway in Phoenix.

Instead they build a tunnel for I-10, it's called the deck park tunnel aka it's really a bridge they build over the freeway.

That really is an idyllic home you two built. I mean without the pantry window it would be complete trash but you have a pantry window, so great call on that front. (Although I don't love the hanging plant blocking most of its glorious view from that angle.)

Overall your house looks like something that would be where the people live in a feel good movie.

Your BMW dash pics are way better. Just saying, if you're going to post pics, that's what the public really wants to see.

Yea good call. The cat's probably also returned from the pet cemetery they have in the back yard. Notice he's never showed us backyard pics.

Or his kids (I know their adults now but that doesn't matter) go for a stroll down the street and a crazed sewer clown gets them. Evil shit goes down in that state.

I mean, he is in Maine. That's where all these King stories, that are obviously documents of true events, come from.

Just because you live in a winter foreign hell land similar to he and want to commiserate, where you get about 2 days a year to take pics like that, you don't have to disparage the great tropical state of Florida.

At least we can all agree both places are better than Toledo and their dumb lake. And you're Canadian so for me to say that's better really means something.

See? You have too many weird things to even comprehend. You even have weird names for them.

I was talking about the split electoral votes.

But now I kinda want to know about the other thing you mentioned...mostly so I can tease you about it.

The "district 2" thing is what I'm calling the split electoral votes. I live here, and I neither understand it, or care. There's some sort of separate congressional district somewhere in the north-east corner of Maine that gets its own electoral vote. It has no effect on the electoral votes that the other 99% of the state gets, so that's why it's meaningless to me. Plus, the place is like 8 hours away. I can drive to New Jersey and back in less time.

On the other hand, ranked-choice is awesome, and it's going to become popular across the country. In addition to your choice (your vote), you can pick your 2nd and 3rd choices. It's great in several ways. If you like a candidate that has no chance of winning, you can make it your 1st or 2nd choice. Also, if you despise a certain candidate, you can leave that candidate out of your ranking completely. And you always have the option to just vote for one person (like normal).
