16 for 77.

This was a big transition year for me, as I started buying my own records. My older brother brought home "Leftoverture" from Kansas, but I bought "Boston" from Boston, "Songs in the Key of Life" from Stevie Wonder, and "Fly Like an Eagle" from Steve Miller Band. I also bought "Hotel California" from The Eagles, although I'm not a fan of the song on the countdown.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do was written by Howard Greenfield and Neil Sedaka and was a number-one hit for Sedaka in August 1962. His remake of the song as a ballad peaked at #8 in February 1976. Breaking Up Is Hard To Do is one of 21 Sedaka hits written by Greenfield and Sedaka. Among the others are Oh! Carol, The Diary, I Go Ape, Stairway To Heaven, Run Samson Run, You Mean Everything To Me, Calendar Girl, King Of Clowns, Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen, Alice In Wonderland and Next Door To An Angel. Here is a live performance of Breaking Up Is Hard To Do at the Royal Albert Hall in London, 2004:

Mister sadchild, here is the original version of Love Hurts (written by Boudleaux Bryant) from the 1960 album A Date With The Everly Brothers. The Everly Brothers recorded a second version for their 1965 album Rock'n Soul.
