All I wanted was some steak
I haven't pulled-up the songs yet, but the band name doesn't stimulate any of my memory cells.Guessing that either Scotch or IRBS will say they've never heard the #5 song.

Fun fact, the same duo that sang #5 also wrote Whitney Houston's 'I wanna dance with somebody', Which also was a pretty big hit. As well as a few others off the top of my head I don't remember.Boy Meets Girl
#5 "Waiting for a Star to Fall"
#39 "Oh Girl"
Subjectively a OHW in my book.
I heard "Black Parade" yesterday for the first time in years on an FM station, and was reminded that I don't like it.My Chemical Romance
#9 "Welcome To The Black Parade"
#33 "Helena"
#41 "Under Pressure" (with The Used)
As a teen, Jacks was in a band called The Chessmen. After the band broke up, he formed The Poppy Family with wife Susan. Their 1969 song "Which Way You Goin' Billy?" hit #2 on the American charts.
They have several hits in Canada.Poppy Family
#2 "Which Way You Goin' Billy?"
#29 "That's Where I Went Wrong"
I'm pretty sure I went 18,911 days without hearing either song. Today, on my 18,912th day, I listened to clips of both and didn't recognize either one.
However.... when I saw a list of the most-played songs on radio and television of the 20th century and #2 was "Never My Love" by The Association, I listened to it and didn't recognize it. So, I may not be the best judge of whether or not these guys are subjectively a zero hit wonder.
For Terry, I also only know "Seasons".Poppy Family: 6 top 40s in Canada! They're Canadian so that makes sense they'd likely have a better run in their homeland.
Terry Jacks: 7 top 40 hits in Canada! (1 in the US)
And of all those hits, I only know "Seasons".
Wow, I assumed his 1st name was a nickname, but no. In fact, his father is Phillip Phillips Sr. That's just stupid.Phillip Phillips
#6 "Home"
#24 "Gone Gone Gone"
Definitely know #6. Didn't know #24. Subjectively a OHW in my opinion.
PS That's a cruel joke to have the last name Phillips and name your kid Phillip. In junior high, a friend of mine's brother was named William Will. I used to say stuff like "The question everyone's asking... Will Will Will's will hold up in court?"
Does he live in Phillipdelphia?Phillip Phillips

Evidently that radio station disagrees with me.Spin Doctors
#7 "Two Princes"
#17 "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong"
#42 "You Let Your Heart Go Too Fast"
I say no way they're considered a OHW subjectively. Both top 40s are still well known.
You are missing a whole bunch. And way more were hits in Canada (the source of this radio station) than in the US.Evidently that radio station disagrees with me.
As for the other one...
Midnight Oil
#17 "Beds Are Burning"
#47 "Blue Sky Mine"
#53 "The Dead Heart"
Technically they are a one-hit wonder, but subjectively they are NOT to me. However, if I played these three songs for the other band members, I'm pretty sure they'd only know "Beds".
I don't think I am. Are you looking under the Hot 100 column? On rock stations (mainstream and alt) they have several hits, but in the pop world it's just one top 40.You are missing a whole bunch.
Where I was at the time, "Princes" outdid "Little Miss". I think I told this story elsewhere on here years ago, but someone came up to me and said something like "You're always hip to the new music. I got one for ya. Have you heard of Spin Doctors?" And I said something like "Well, Little Miss, Jimmy Olsen's Blues and Two Princes are all over the radio right now. So.... yeah." He thought he was mentioning some band that was about to break. They'd already had three songs on the radio for months, but he didn't get into them until "Two Princes" was in the top 10.And I thought "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" was a bigger hit
Oops. I was looking at the main. But several hits in Canada so I stand by the not OHW statement.I don't think I am. Are you looking under the Hot 100 column? On rock stations (mainstream and alt) they have several hits, but in the pop world it's just one top 40.
