Adventures In Koopland

#UnemploymentLife update.

I'm good through June. I just finished paying all my June bills early to get them out of the way so I won't have to worry.

Now I have enough savings to last well past June I just like paying everything early so I know I will have nothing to worry about for at least the next 4 weeks. And I've been pretty good with cash. I have bought nothing but food and cleaning supplies and that's how I hope to keep it until I have money coming in again. I don't really drive so I won't need gas for a long while and I have enough vape supplies to last me through the month so I'm looking pretty good. Went to Publix today and bought $80 worth of food but got it for $40 cause it was all buy one get one stuff...cat food included. Fiscal responsibility MF'ers.

My unemployment hasn't been approved yet which seems odd to me. It's not denied it just says "submitted - pending". So I guess we'll see what happens there. I know this isn't the most proactive approach but as far as a new job goes my plan is to lay around for the next week and a half feeling bad about everything and then start going hard on June 1st. Hopefully I'll have a job of some sort by the end of next month.

In the meantime I currently have a full time job beautifying my Animal Crossing island and watching Netflix and Amazon.

Thanks guys.

Get out on your bike and ride a bit before you have to get back to the grind.

I see that and raise you I just slept all day and am now starting my day at 8:45pm. And I'm not even drinking. Unemployed sleep cycle is all bonkers.

I just slept all day and am now starting my day at 8:45pm.
I could honestly do something close to that.
When I'm on vacation, I tend to stay up till 4 or 5 am, and can easily sleep in till 2 in the afternoon if I don't have anything to do the next day.

Occasionally, when we're entertaining, we may have a few people hanging-out until 11:30 or so; or if we're out, we might get home at midnight. But generally, we're in bed by (the latest) 10-10:30 pm most nights. On Saturdays, we always seem to go to bed around 11 pm, because the neighbor on the bedroom side of us has a whole house generator that turns on weekly from 11-11:20 on Saturday night.

I can stay in bed until 9 am on off days, that's it. On Sunday mornings, when the trumpet plays for CBS Sunday morning, I'm up.

If you have dogs this cures this. They need to be walked by 9am regardless of your schedule.

So I'm starting my day 1:15 later today at 10pm. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

I've been keeping track of what I spend now that I really need to focus on being frugal. Here is the past week:

5.15 - $75 Walmart
5.16 - $0
5.17 - $0
5.18 - $40 Publix
5.19 - $50 Metro
5.20 - $0
5.21 - $0

Pretty good week, $165 total. And Metro is my phone so that's good now until the 4th of July. Like I said before I already paid my rent way early so I'm good there until June 25th. And I already set aside the cash for July rent. I have a weird system. I pay my rent in cash. I got a safe from my dad. It's a real safe, probably the size of 3 milk crates and oh boy was that annoying to move to my apartment...the thing is super heavy. Anyway, I take my rent out in cash and put it in the safe. Once money goes in the safe I am good at not touching it (unlike with my card) until it is needed for its intended purpose. So I have my June 25th rent payment in there already so I'm good with rent until July 25.

I am probably going to make a Publix/Walmart trip today or tomorrow so that will likely set me back another $75 or so.

Did the unemployment situation get worked out?

Still "pending". And I can't call since they are so overwhelmed. It won't even let you wait on hold. It just says that all the lines are busy and then hangs up. I've gone over everything and I don't see any mistakes. I tried the calling thing like 50 times, it's hopeless. Maybe it will work itself out next week...hopefully.

I also just took that Walmart/Publix trip I mentioned and spent a total of $90. But I got a bunch of food, and treated myself to a hoagie. I shouldn't have to leave the house for awhile now. I'll report back next week on how the spending went.

Besides the hoagie, another little luxury item I bought were candles. I think I've mentioned it before but Walmart has these little candles that cost $0.94 and they burn for about 19 hours each (I timed it once). I like keeping a candle burning so I got 6 of them. So out of the $93 total I just spent, the hoagie was $8 and the candles were about $6. So I spent $14 on unneeded stuff. All the rest was food, and toiletries. So a pretty good morning grocery run.
