If this was your did not make top 40 list, this would be the only surprise:
Bon Jovi - Runaway

Just saw this on another forum:

Correct me if I’m wrong, but as of now, there is only one song in 1987 that has never been featured on the big 40. Let’s Work by Mick Jagger- Oct 24 1987 for one week.

I did a search for Jagger in this thread and didn't see "Let's Work" in the results. It's a #39 peak (not a #40) so we haven't been tracking it. Does anyone know if this song has ever been on the VJ 40?
I searched the forum and didn't find this entry.

I pasted an image I found of number 39 peaks. Some may have entered at 40 and crept to 39. Others may have gone straight to 39 then fell out. The latter is exactly what occurred with the Mick Jagger track.

The list above looks like mostly #40 peaks. It's possible that a song entered at #39 then fell out the 40. I would have to conduct a search similar to what I did for the 40 peaks to give us a comprehensive list. I think you have uncovered the possibility of more unaired episodes.

It is not beyond the relm of possibility that this happened with a #38 peak too. #37 for that matter but as the number gets further up, the odds diminish almost exponentially I would think. Before the chart broke that is. Now it is concievable a song debuts for 1 week @ #1 then falls out of the 40.

You're correct. There are a few 38s and one 35 in the list. I looked the Tiffany track up and it went from 41 to 35 then back to 41.

All the 40s were accounted for except LTD, Yes, the Cover Girls. Genesis "Man On the Corner" should have been on the list (#40 peak) along with "Let's Work" by The Mick Jagger (#39 peak).

This week’s Big 40 Countdown, from December 10th, 1983:
40 (40) BARBRA STREISAND - THE WAY HE MAKES ME FEEL

They have done both "Man on the Corner" and "Promise Me" in 2013. In fact, they were featured side by side. May 15 1982 and May 21 1988, respectively

I’m convinced 1984 is the only year we’ve heard every single hit there is in the top 40. At least, if we go back to 2012

Here is my list of uncovered songs in the big 40. This goes back to 2012 when they started using billboard charts. Anyone feel free to comment or correct me. Hope I got it all down. 20 songs total. Mick Jagger and Barry Manilow both appear twice.

1980
Savannah Nights- Tom Johnston (2 weeks)
I Don’t Want to Walk Without You- Barry Manilow (4 weeks)
Love Stinks- J Geils Band (3 weeks)
Don’t Say Goodnight- Isley Brothers (2 weeks)
Lady- The Whispers (4 weeks)
New Romance- Spiders (2 weeks)

1981
Shine On- LTD (1 week)
Nicole- Point Blank (2 weeks)

1982
Oh Julie- Barry Manilow (2 weeks)

1983
My Town - Michael Stanley Band (1 week)

1985
Oh Girl- Boy Meets World (1 week)
Lucky in Love- Mick Jagger (3 weeks)

1986
A Little Bit of Love is all it takes- New Edition (2 weeks)
Where do the Children Go- Hooters (1 week)

1987
Let’s Work- Mick Jagger (1 week)

1988
Rhythm of Love-Yes (1 week)
Supersonic- JJ Fad (4 weeks)
Black and Blue- Van Halen (2 weeks)
Heart of Mine- Boz Scaggs (2 weeks)

1989
Tiffany- Radio Romance (1 week)

Love Stinks is the only song on the list I miss (the others could be pleasant surprises but don't know any of them).

Wow nice work!!
Thanks!

But most of us here still haven't heard them, so we can track them separately.

I had no idea he was living in my neck of the woods....
I think this means he (Alan Hunter) has moved 3 times in the last 6 or 7 years? If my memory serves me right.

President's Day Weekend they are doing special countdowns. The 80s along with the 90s an y2k channels will each be counting down the top 47 artists of their respective decades. Starting Friday @ 9 on the 80s. Moving in sequence though the decades along with replays throughout the weekend. No VJ Big 40 it sounds like. Also looks like the 70s got left out.
