Mister semi wanted everyone to see Weird Al Yankovic's Ricky, a 1983 parody of Toni Basil's Mickey. This was the first video Weird Al ever filmed. It can be viewed on YouTube but the person who posted it has disabled it for viewing on other websites (such as DRC). Lucy is played by Tress MacNelle, who has voiced characters in more than 2,200 cartoon episodes including Futurama, The Simpsons, The Centurions, Alvin & The Chipmunks, House Of Mouse, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Chip 'N' Dale Rescue Rangers, Rugrats, Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures.

Here is the audio – and you'll have to go to YouTube to see the video. Ai-yi-yi!

Oh Channel you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow our mind. Hey Channel! Hey Channel!

#85 Don Henley "Johnny Can't Read"

This weeks surprises. The first is Canadian but I thought would have done better after their breakthough in 1981.

Will never breach the top 40

#99 Dolly Parton "I Will Always Love You"

This song will never be a great song but this version is far superior to Whiney's version and did far worse.

Besides Talk Talk and Talk Talk, have there been other artists or groups who recorded a song with the same name as themselves? I'm glad you asked. There was Bo Diddley's 1955 R&B hit Bo Diddley and Yellow Balloon's 1967 hit Yellow Balloon. The Sweet Inspirations had a 1968 hit titled Sweet Inspiration, but does that count? I don't know.

There is also Icehouse by Icehouse, Motörhead by Motörhead, Bad Company by Bad Company, Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden, Bad Religion by Bad Religion, Damn Yankees by Damn Yankees, Porno For Pyros by Porno For Pyros, Kool & The Gang by Kool & The Gang, Living In A Box by Living In A Box and They Might Be Giants by They Might Be Giants.

Taylor Swift's first country hit (2006) was titled Tim McGraw. Now if we could just get Tim McGraw to record his own version.......

That doesn't count. The title has two additional words that are not part of the band's name. Queen's Killer Queen doesn't count either. Or the Stray Cats' Stray Cat Strut. Or Big Bopper's Wedding by The Big Bopper.

I couldn't stand it when it came out, but managed to like it in recent years. :dunno1

:laughcry:
23. NEW WORLD MAN - RUSH

One hit wonder! *dodges 75 rocks thrown at my head*
Always love to see Rush get some recognition.
#61 Missing Persons "Destination Unknown"

#65 Cheap Trick "She's Tight"
Two great songs I would have thought would have been much closer to 40.
We still play Shes Tight.

#67 Eddie Money "Shakin'"
SHOCKED this didn't make it to at least 30.
#73 Yaz "Situation"
Love this one. Not surprised it didn't make it to 40, but it should have gotten more attention.
I've been wanting to cover this one with guitar in front instead of synth.
#86 Talk Talk "Talk Talk"
What what?

This was a #41 peak. I think it should have crossed the 40.
#53 Paul McCartney "Tug Of War"
#54 Stevie Wonder "Ribbon In The Sky"
Ebony and Ivory together...
#73 Yaz "Situation"
Allison Moyet was incredible. She's another that should have been bigger in the US.
#93 Time "777-9311"
I miss band making records like this.

More rules than the OHW thread.

Not so. Only one rule: the name of the song has to be exactly the same as the name of the artist. Here is another example: Body Count, a song on Body Count's 1992 debut album. But Wilco (The Song} by Wilco does not count. Neither does George Burns & Gracie Allen, Parts 1 & 2, a 1933 comedy recording by George Burns and Gracie Allen.

"Say good night, Gracie."
"Good night, Gracie."
