36: TEACHER TEACHER - .38 SPECIAL

Wish I heard this more. Very forgotten hit.

31: IT AIN’T ENOUGH – COREY HART

He might have 8 top 40s here but AFAIK he's only remembered for "Sunglasses" and "Surrender" in the States.

8: LET’S GO CRAZY – PRINCE AND THE REVOLUTION

At least one other person guessed this one.

2: CARIBBEAN QUEEN (NO MORE LOVE ON THE RUN) – BILLY OCEAN

I picked this one. If I'm the only one who chose it, it will be my first win since July where it's not also a tie.

1: I JUST CALLED TO SAY I LOVE YOU – STEVIE WONDER

#58 Kiss "Heaven's On Fire"

TIL Kiss had no top 40s in the 80s. This song will be their highest charter (#49 peak).
However, they bookended the decade with two:
1979 #11 "I Was Made For Lovin You"
1990 #8 "Forever"

#76 Twisted Sister "I Wanna Rock"
#78 Billy Squier "All Night Long"

A bunch of new songs on the list below between 76 & 100. Of the ones I've never posted prior to today, I liked the above ones back in the day and still do now. (I also liked/like #75 and #83, but I've posted those in the past.)

Will never get into the top 40
#48 Maria Vidal "Body Rock"
#50 Barbra Streisand "Left In The Dark"
#52 Matthew Wilder "Bouncing Off The Wall"
#54 Glenn Frey "The Allnighter"
#56 Scandal/Patty Smith "Hands Tied"
#57 Steve Miller Band "Shangri-La"
#58 Kiss "Heaven's On Fire"
#66 Jacksons "Body"
#67 Stephen Stills "Can't Let Go"
#68 Janey Street "Say Hello To Ronnie"
#69 Freddie Mercury "Love Kills"
#71 Stephanie Mills "The Medicine Song"
#72 Al Jarreau "After All"
#73 Jeffrey Osborne "Don't Stop"
#74 Roger Hodgson "Had A Dream"
#75 Frankie Goes To Hollywood "Two Tribes"
#76 Twisted Sister "I Wanna Rock"

Billy Ocean made two more versions of this song: African Queen and European Queen. African Queen charted in South Africa and European Queen charted in Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK and Germany.

I liked the song, but Vanity would have performed it much better. Apollonia went on to star in Falcon Crest and release a solo album. I remember seeing the video for "Since I Fell For You", but it didn't pick up any stream.

"We Belong" by Pat Benatar debuted on the 100 this week @ #45. Slowed down after this peaking in January 1985 @ #5.

Here is a bigger wow – although it has nothing to do with the 1980s. The Weeknd's Blinding Lights, number one for four weeks in April 2020, spent 57 weeks in the top ten, 84 weeks in the top 40 and 90 weeks on the Hot 100!
