Here is a 2009 story about the various people who have the 867-5309 phone number. One man was trying to sell his business (and accompanying phone number) on eBay. The article calls 867-5309 "pop's most famous phone number." There have been many other songs with phone numbers in the title, including 634-5789 by Wilson Pickett, Beechwood 4-5789 by the Marvelettes, 853-5937 by Squeeze and 6060-842 by the B-52's. Glenn Miller's Pennysylvania 6-5000 (which was the number of the Hotel Pennsylvania in New York) was a top-ten hit in 1940, Hawkshaw Hawkins had a number-one country hit in 1963 with Lonesome 7-7203 and Morris Day & The Time reached #2 on the R&B chart in 1982 with 777-9311. Logic, Alessia Cara and Khalid had a #3 hit in 2017 with 1-800-273-8255, which is the number of the Suicide Prevention Hotline.

Phone number behind Tommy Tutone hit 867-5309 (Jenny) listed on eBay

867-5309, the titular digits of Tommy Tutone's 1982 hit, and one of the last cultural remnants of 80s pop – apart from the mullet – has been listed on eBay

Good 11
Okay 8
Bad 21

Not bad for 82.

29. Kenny Rogers – Through The Years

RIP

21. Huey Lewis & The News – Do You Believe In Love

Ooo-ooo, ooo-ooo, wee-ooo

5. Air Supply – Sweet Dreams

My son was loving the dark ambient intro to this song. As soon as the first verse kicked in, he's like "They ruined it!!"

2. Journey – Open Arms

1. Joan Jett/Blackhearts – I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll

All three of us chose this. My roommate's son won the tie breaker picking "Centerfold" (#3) as his guess at number 2. My roommate's old roommate gets 2nd place for picking "We Got The Beat" (#6). I chose "Chariots Of Fire" (#14).

#64 Survivor "Summer Nights"
#84 Bryan Adams "Lonely Nights"

Each one is 'the single right before their first big US hit'.

The Baby's were pretty much right, but Journey driveled all the way to the bank.

I always think of the song as "Broken Arms" and I find it much more entertaining.

1: LEAN ON ME - CLUB NOUVEAU

Lucky guess for me at #1. I had three other candidates, but something told me they all happened before or after this week, so I went for the one I really didn't know when it peaked. I was right! My friend's son also picked this one.

Guilty pleasure.

#86 Night Ranger "The Secret of My Success"

I liked this movie back when it came out. Wonder if it still holds up?

It does. I still think it's a good movie. I'll watch it pretty much whenever it comes on.

Not bad at all, can't really see anything I intensely dislike in this one.

Good 11
Okay 16
Bad 13

Solid countdown. Even Beavis & Butthead are taking the week off!

40. Cars – Why Cant I Have You

Great song. Don't hear it enough. And the girl doing a back bend in the video is forever burnt into my mind.

25. Foreigner – That Was Yesterday

Lost hit for sure!

23. Journey – Only The Young
22. Billy Joel – Keepin’ The Faith

Weird transition between journey and billy joel, did a piece of MG's dialogue get chopped out?

2. USA For Africa – We Are The World

My friend's son and I both guessed this one. I don't know what my friend's old roommate guessed, I haven't been told yet.

#84 Frankie Goes To Hollywood "Welcome To The Pleasure Dome"

Classic. Love the original 15 minute version with Steve Howe of Yes on acoustic guitar.

Will never reach the top 40:
#46 Santana "Say It Again"
#47 Go West "We Close Our Eyes"
#48 Jermaine Stewart "The Word Is Out"
#54 John Waite "Change"
#57 Pointer Sisters "Baby Come and Get It"
#66 Rick James "Can't Stop"
#69 Giuffria "Lonely in Love"
#73 Paul Hardcastle "Rain Forest"
#75 Jesse Johnson "Be Your Man"
#77 Shannon "Do You Wanna Get Away"
#78 Los Lobos "Will The Wolf Survive"
#80 Sheena Easton "Swear"
#84 Frankie Goes To Hollywood "Welcome To The Pleasure Dome"
#85 Dan Fogelberg "Go Down Easy"
#86 Alan Parsons Project "Let's Talk About Me"
#87 Philip Bailey "Walking On The Chinese Wall"
#89 Jules Shear "Steady"
#90 John Parr "Magical"
#93 Midnight Star "Scientific Love"
#97 UTFO "Roxanne, Roxanne"
#98 Alphaville "Forever Young"
#99 Bronski Beat "Small Town Boy"

This just in. My friend's roommate picked "One More Night" and nailed #1.

On a side note, I almost went for "Suddenly", which is #44 this week. I also almost went for "One More Night" or "Crazy For You" (#4). Those were my potentials.
