2017 Movies & Tv Show

n your original post you said, "The last trek wasn't great". Well that would be Bakula's Enterprise. Janeway was Voyager. Enterprise was the most recent reboot of the series.
How about that? There was another version.
It was even less popular than Janeway's Voyager.....

I amend my example, and rest my case.

Last night the Bags saw "Tickling Giants", a doc about Bessem Youssef. He's the Jon Stewart of Egypt. His show ("The Show") did political satire about Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood and El-Sisi.

I wish all Americans would watch this to get a better understanding of what freedom of speech means. Democracy sure doesn't guarantee free speech.

I see it got good reviews. At first, I was confusing this movie with the one that Jon Stewart made a few years back, about an Iranian (I think) "Jon Stewart" type satirist who was jailed. Odd that he'd be involved in two similar movie projects.

I thought the original came out like 30 years ago.

It did but then they made a prequel Netflix TV series a couple years ago and it was great. It was funny how the cast was all like 20 years older but playing the exact same roles in the same time period. This new series is a continuation of that.

I still laugh about this one joke from the Wet Hot prequel.

Amy and Slattery are discussing the camp play and Slattery is talking about how blocking is one of the most important parts of any production. While going on this rant the whole scene is filmed like this:

Hah! It's so stupid and clever at the same time I love it!

Last Friday I saw the Hammer version of "The Mummy" at the Drafthouse. I love Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, but it was sort of boring. They kept telling the same part of the film over and over. I prefer the "Frankenstein" series.

Last night I saw "Final Destination 2", also at the Drafthouse. I expected it to suck, but it was very funny. I've never seen any films in this series, but the program director talked it up just right. Stupid concept that started life as an "X Files" script taken to absurd lengths. Probably not as funny if you are anti-death.

Last night I watched the 1st season of the Netflix series "GLOW". It started out kind of lame, but Alison Brie is in it. Like, a lot of Alison Brie. So I kept watching and by the end I was really enjoying it. It's kind of dumb, but more clever than it appears at first.

I will give anything a try that stars one of Community's main characters. Throw in a bunch of Alison Brie naked and I'm all in. But besides that I have enjoyed it so far too. I'm 7 episodes deep and it's a nice, mostly lighthearted show.

I watched GLOW over the weekend myself and liked it. I remembered the old show and it wasn't the exact same characters but how many movies that track past events are ever accurate.
