I loved listening to the Cleveland segment. I've never heard that. Hell, I didn't have him in my market until after his peak, (grew up near Indianapolis, and he never caught on there, and didn't come until 97 or 98 anyway) so a lot of this stuff is new to me, except for the stuff talked about in the books.

I remember it well since I was in Cleveland and a listener at the time of the funeral. WMMS was the big dog in town since the mid-1970s, until Howard showed up. They haven't recovered from their fall from #1 to this day.

WNCX paid a lot of money for the stern show but it turned out being a big payoff in the end.

The good part for Howard: competing radio station employed the person who did the damage, judges getting soft and giving the guy a smack on the hands while neglecting to investigate his bosses at the station. A lot of work and planning to be working alone without folks WMMS knowing about the plans.

WMMS is Clear Channel. Ha!
WNCX paying a lot for Howard, but being a big payoff is usually how it is... I don't know how much the Columbus affiliate benefitted, though.

They mention after that segment that there was a PR person and someone else from the station also charged... but they all acted alone, right judge?

I spent about 8-9 straight hrs listening to the special over the past couple days and I think its been great. Even my wife was digging it on our drive to and from Vegas. I'm only up to 12-25 so I still have a lot to go but this is way better than Act II.

Maybe it's just me, but I love Paul Giamatti's anti-christ line.

Nope - not just you. I love hearing that - I think most of the enjoyment for me comes from his delivery - it's really as if he was Pig Virus at the end of his rope. :D

Speaking of part 3, the farewell to Billy part had a bit of extra info about how he felt about management (most likely Tom Cheapasano). And his thoughts about a reunion.

One thing I noticed during that segment when they are talking about having Billy come in again, they played a very short clip of Howard saying he'd love it, but sounding - to me at least - really facetious. Not overtly in a "Yeah, right" tone, but more in the style of "Can't this thing just die already" way hoping people will just shut up about it. I guess to me it was more in the tone, compared to the other things Howard was saying, than anything else.

I heard it. Billy was pissed that Howard never really appreciated what he gave to the show. Seems like behind the scenes, Howard did not care too much for Billy.

I dunno if Billy was as popular back then but he probably didn't like Billy's popularity.

I was thinking, after a certain point there isn't much going on in the show. I mean with Howard's whole married life being wiped out nothing much really happens after Private Parts.

Originally this special was supposed to be the last one.

Is DoublEE distributing copies? I have HOHS 1 and 2 thanks to him.

So much I can't listen to, especially as they always happen over the holidays.

I have all but 1/1 if you want them. I'll have 1/1 in a bit. I can upload them tomorrow.
