I am targeting Marty Supreme for either Jan 2nd or the first Tues special Jan 6th. It looks like a ping pong movie with Tears for Fears songs and I like to play ping pong with my Sweetie at the Y.
I also want to take her to see The Devil Wears Prada 2 in April. She use to watch the original over and over and I liked it too

My first Tuesday Special movie was "David". Even though it was released in 2025, I put it here because I saw it today. My $6, got me admission where I sat at my usual E19. (a great view). The aisle seat in the last row of the front section where nobody else likes to sit. And a small free popcorn. But I was weak and purchased a $7 junior soda. (pepsi), loved it.

Technically the adaption of David, the characters and the animals was impressive. But the story lacked punch after the Goliath scene was done. I assume since it was for family, it could not follow the usual verses in the book of Samuel. Not the I'm an expert but I know the basics. I'm sure it was fun for the kids though.

My original plan was to see "Marty Supreme" but my Sweetie has not been feeling well so I went to see "David" by myself. If she feels better, we will go Friday or the weekend.

I went to see "Avatar Fire and Ash" today. Even though it was released in 2025, I put it here because I saw it today. I watched it in the Ultra Screen room for the best viewing and sound experience. And I sat in the same seat I sat when I saw "One Battle After Another". E1, the aisle seat in the last row in the front section where nobody else likes to seat. While E19 is my favorite seat in the Standard room, I also liked E1 in the Ultra Screen because it is right next the entry lane. Given that the movie was supposed to be three hours, I could sneak to the restroom and got up a couple of times and watched in the entry lane to stretch my legs, I was also given a pair of 3D glasses. It has been a long time since I've seen a 3D show. And I stayed away from the concessions.
The movie was artistically beautiful with the flow and color. And it was quite a cast.

I am still optimistic I can see "Marty Supreme" with Sweetie by the next Tuesday Special otherwise Plan B will be "Is This Thing On"

I make lists of songs played on various SiriusXM channels but I've never tried to make a list of Disney live-action remakes of animated films. There are just too many! Milo Manheim will play Flynn Rider and Teagan Croft will play Rapunzel in the upcoming live-action remake of 2010's Tangled. Kathryn Hahn (Transparent, Crossing Jordan, Bad Moms, Agatha All Along) is in talks to play Mother Gothel.

My wife and I finally saw "Marty Supreme" this afternoon though we almost missed it as we lost track of the time and then went to the wrong side of the cinema. But we got there just in time to see the last preview which was a new Margaret Qually movie that comes out in late February and looks pretty good.
My wife had complementary tickets and enough points to cover our kiddie combos so that was nice. The movie was rather long but interesting. It was the 2nd best ping pong related movie I've ever seen next to Forest Gump. And my wife just told me Timothy Chalet just won the Golden Globe for it. It was also great to see Kevin O Leary from Shark Tank in it. I had no clue. I think that was his first acting part and he looked like a natural.

Watched Nuns On The Run for the first time since the early 90s. Starring Eric Idle (of Monty Python) and Robbie Coltrane (I'm learning just now he's Hagrid from the Harry Potter films).

So you can't buy this new on DVD. Nobody streams it. Used DVDs are $30-$40. So my son 'found' it for us.

Good movie, a fun watch. Guns and pratfalls and crossdressing men. Very typical late 80s/early 90s action-comedy film.

Not having seen it for over 30 years, I've still religiously (get it?!) used one quote from it a thousand times: "Spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch"

I finally watched that a few months ago, pretty good. Found it in the dark corners of the internet.

Star Trek Star Fleet Academy premieres today. I don't have high expectations, but I will give it a chance. It is a spin-off of Star Trek Discovery which I thought was terrible. Star Trek Strange New Worlds was also a spin-off of Star Trek Discovery and that turned out to be pretty good. But Strange New Worlds was related more to original Star Trek than Discovery. If this one of more like Discovery it will probably be bad. We will see. It will have Holly Hunter as the Captain and is supposed to be 700 or 800 years after Star Trek Next Generation.

And I still haven't started Stranger Things Season 2 through 5 or finished The Morning Show Seasons 2 through 4 but they are still on my viewing list.
These are all me time shows

For wife time, we watched an episode of The Pitt. Heard it was good but I did not care for it. And an episode of His and Hers, didn't care for that either. And finished some Peacock shows which we will have until end of January. Apples Never Fall and All Her Fault. Those I liked. Plus it has Bugonia and a couple more interesting shows we will need to catch soon.

The Pit just doesn’t look interesting to me. People say that it’s good, but it looks like the same old medical drama that they have been doing forever.

His & Hers has a lot of unlikeable characters, but it keeps you guessing right up to the end.

Our neighbors (the doctors) love it. "It's so realistic!". We also have cousins who insisted we watch it. So we tried an episode.

Mrs. Scotch loved ER (mostly because of George Clooney), but is not at all comfortable with watching gore and shock-value stuff. The Pitt is like the pay-cable version of ER; same drama, cranked-up gore. And I quickly tired of the "everything is happening all at once it's so crazy" theme. It was one-and-done for us.

And yes, I was also thinking about how Noah Wiley (or whatever his name is) is playing the same character he did 25 years ago; and how the show is banking on the allure of something that's been done to death (pun possibly intended).

Got it.
I've got enough stress in my life. I can pass on this one, even if it is good.

I have been debating about watching it but I can't help but think: isn't this just ER again? And ER has been done to death as well. Same with most of the fire/rescue shows. They just seem like updated "Emergency" episodes.

My wife decided to keep going with the Pitt. She says she's hooked. She's taken over the living room to watch. I guess the Pitt not only stands for the gore of the patients coming in but it takes place in Pittsburgh. I've watched a few extra scenes with her between things
Now I don't know if we will be able to watch some of the other shows on Peacock before our subscription runs out.

I watched season 1. You're right it's just ER but with the HBO lack of FCC censorship. I liked it but not enough to watch more.

Fun fact, Michael Crichton's widow is suing them. Crichton created ER and The Pitt people came to her first and asked if she'd be interested in The Pitt and being properly credited. She said no and they did it anyway. I'm biased toward Crichton but it is basically just a new ER so I see her side of the suit.

Holy shit......WB is working overtime on PR for this suit. The motion to dismiss was denied and I only learned that from AI Gemini. It took more than one search to find anything but pro Pitt articles.

The Rip kept building tension as it went along.
It wasn't a typical cop action movie that you usually see.

We also watched the Agatha Christie Seven Clocks thing too.
It was pretty good and what you would expect for a Christie story.
The lead actress is pretty cute too.
