The fire near me (Cameron Peak) increased by 10,000 acres overnight, more mandatory evacuations, and WAY more smoke in the area, and ash falling from the sky making it incredibly difficult to breathe since the air quality sucks! If you look outside, it's almost like the fire is right down the street, even though I'm a good 1 1/2 hour drive from where the perimeter is.

Just returned from the oregon coast, where it is a perfect 70 degrees, barely any wind. 60 miles in is a windy ashy mix in Portland. There was ash inside my truck. We're heading back to the beach. I wish. It seemed weird at 3:00 on a holiday where people have to work tomorrow all the cars were heading west, now we know. I heard it's from a fire in Spokane, a 7 hour drive from here. 2020 is the worst year ever.

There is a 4,800-acre out-of-control fire in the Angeles National Forest north of Monrovia and Duarte, just a few miles northeast of Glendale, where I live. The El Dorado fire in Yucaipa has now burned 8,600 acres and is only 7% contained. It was started by a husband and wife who invited family members to a "gender reveal" at El Dorado Ranch Park, then set off two pyrotechnic devices which emitted colored smoke. We don't know if the smoke was blue or pink – but we do know the devices started the fire. Can you say "criminal charges"? I knew you could.

I've been to El Dorado Ranch Park many times. The Oak Glen area of Yucaipa also has a small zoo and several apple orchards with cider presses. On September 5, the day of the idiots' gender-reveal party, the high temperature in Yucaipa was 118. Yeah, let's set off smoke bombs. What could go wrong?
