You mean Billy West? If you go back far enough, there was less Robin and more Fred and others.

Benjy's definitely just a writer, not a sidekick. There are plenty of sidekicks available if he'd want. Maybe his need for control has gotten to the point that he can't let someone else lead the show.

Yeah. There is certainly a lot more conversation with Robin now. It seems like sometimes Howard and Robin are having a private conversation that we're dropping in on.

deep down, knowing how narcissistic howard is, do you think he kinda resents how popular artie was with the fans during his tenure with the show and vows not to ever let someone potentially "upstage" him on his own show ever again?

In my opinion he's not that screwed-up. But being associated with such a severely troubled addict may have scared him away from being comfortable with any new person on the show.

That was the rumor as to why he killed off the spinoff shows like Geek Time and Back Office Radio.

Howard doesn't like chaos, contrary to popular belief. Howard likes controlled chaos, and he wants to control it.

If a guy starts saying no to marching orders (Billy) or is an addict (Artie), Howard says bye.

I just posted this elsewhere, but listen to the fun in the background.

yeah, but billy didn't have to put up with howard's bullshit if he didn't want to. that guy was already doing voice work by the time he was getting done with stern, and he was likely being much better compensated for doing so. I'm willing to bet that the m&m's commercials alone paid more than what he made his entire tenure with howard.

Billy is smart too. When it came to "Futurama," he said he voiced Fry as his own voice because it would be more difficult to replace him.
