I was thinking of future madness themes, mainly not dealing with music.

So naturally I thought of another madness theme dealing with music. We could vote on the best debut records, i.e., each artist's first song to make the Top 100 or Hot 100. That would include, among thousands of others, Jimmy Buffett's Come Monday, Lesley Gore's It's My Party, James Brown's Try Me, Bing Crosby's Just A Gigolo, Tony Bennett's Because Of You, Aretha Franklin's Won't Be Long, Led Zeppelin's Good Times Bad Times, the Beatles' I Want To Hold Your Hand, the Rolling Stones' Not Fade Away, the Goo Goo Dolls' Name and the Bee Gees' New York Mining Disaster 1941.

If you have another madness planned, it might be best to run with it. I will pick this one up later. Not really in the madness mood right now.

That's alright, I have something in mind. I'm currently busy in real life to host right now. For now we could take a break from Madness until December for CDT. Unless someone else wants to host again.

I'd be willing to do a madness based on the "I Can't Believe It's Not A Top 40" thread if people like the idea.

Which not-top 40 song should have been a top 40.

But... only songs that made the Hot 100 or Bubbling Under, and therefore could have been a top 40 (sorry, no "Stairway To Heaven")

Here's just a tiny sample of songs that almost made the top 40.... these are just the #41 peakers!

38 Special "Back To Paradise"
Beatles "From Me To You"
Bob Seger "Rock And Roll Never Forgets"
Cars "Good Times Roll"
Cars "It's All I Can Do"
Cars "Since You're Gone"
David Bowie "Changes"
Elton John "Tiny Dancer"
Hall & Oates "Don't Hold Back Your Love"
Huey Lewis & The News "Workin' For A Livin'"
Kinks "Do It Again"
Nine Inch Nails "Closer"
Psychedelic Furs "Pretty In Pink"
Wonders "That Thing You Do"
ZZ Top "La Grange"

Madness #29 was animated TV series. Has there ever been a Madness for animated characters? It could include movies and TV series and we could have two categories and maybe even two separate Madnesses: one for people (Fred Flintstone, Hank Hill, Beavis, Butt-Head, Bart Simpson, Bob Belcher, Elmer Fudd, Eric Cartman, Popeye, Betty Boop, Tommy Pickles et al) and one for animals (Bugs Bunny, Woody Woodpecker, Scrooge McDuck, Stimpy, Top Cat, Felix the Cat, Bullwinkle, Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, King Leonardo, Deputy Dawg et al). A fine idea!
