Today's Leno/Stuttering John Rant

I know you have a point about guests, but bringing this up on the day after they have a Beatle in the studio is like the time Al Gore had the NYC Global Warming Summit on the coldest day in 150 years. ;)

Gary didn't book McCartney, like most of Howard's guests he was doing all of the Sirius channels. Is OutQ relevent now that McCartney was on it?

IMO, the mods on SFN weren't the start of the problem. They are a product of all the negativity on the site. When the guy the site is supposed to honor refuses to go on it because of all the hate posts, what have you created exactly?

The negativity and the pointing out of any little problem with the show is the root of the problem, IMO. SBS was a lot more fun before a group of posters proclaimed their right to tear down anything that Howard does in the name of being a fan.

But if Gary had not booked him before, he may not have been agreeable to going on Howard's show this time. Lots of guests come to Sirius, not all do the show.

But is it a problem so terrible that it must be addressed by moderators? If the moderators get into theatening to ban posters because their posts are overwhelmingly negative.. then you get Mutt-like moderators who starts applying their subjective opinions about who is overwhelmingly negative. In my opinion, the less censorship we have here the better.

OK, as the new mod here I'm going to tell it to you straight. No one is going to get banned here for being negative. The biggest problem I see in this forum is when threads morph into personal pissing matches. You guys are more than welcome to take that stuff off the board and PM each other. Let's make an effort to stay on topic.

The only problem I see related to be negative is when a member is constantly posting the same, tired thoughts in an attempt to draw people in to a fight. And no, I'm no talking about DLM's horse-face jokes. Those are fine. For example, if someone posts 20 times in a row about the poor quality of guests (without supporting their opinion) I'm going to speak with that person.

Listen, the bottom line is this...you guys are going to get plenty of chances before I have to do something drastic. Some of us need to develop a thicker skin and others need to ratchet it down a couple notches.

Let's all have fun, okay?

OK.. I don't want to beat a dead horse but let me whack away again. Of course, there is no arguing with what makes you laugh and what you enjoy but didn't you think Howard's treatment of John was a bit shabby? John was a loyal worker for Howard and a reliable informant. Beth liked John's wife and Howard sometimes treated John as a social friend. Most people agree that leaving for the Leno job was a no-brainer. And Howard always said he wished John well and had nothing against him. Yet he went on for about 20 minutes on what a loser no-talent John was in every area... announcing, writing and bits and how he was given nothing to do on the Leno show... And that he would probably contintue to be employed by Leno on the new show just kind of confined to the back stage areas. And Gary, Artie, Robin and Fred joined in the general disparagement of John. No one dared to say a good thing about him. And I thought Artie and Gary considered themsleves friends of John. End of dead horse beating.

I feel two ways about it; one way is that I don't really care, but for the sake of the message board and throwing ideas and opinions around I would add that Howard has bended his take from the original day he went off on John. All it would take is for Fred or Robin to throw a negative idea towards Howard about John and Howard would be off and running again. That's why I liked what they all did the other day...it came off as ball busting and there were no heavy handed character assassinations, save for Jay. There was a lot of giggling involved. It didn't come off as too heavy, in my opinion.

I said on a different Leno/Stern posting that Howard was trying to have it both ways concerning whether or not Jay would keep John on the new show.
