My wife is being discharged tomorrow. They are going to start a whole bunch of supports including hospital bed and home oxygen as well as nursing support do deliver the antibiotics via IV at home.

Good to know things are progressing; that's great!
So did I. If you read one of the first posts in the Milestones thread, I mention that both turning 60 and reaching our 25th anniversary happened last year. But we couldn't (or didn't want to) make plans on the dates of those events. And so we hatched the idea of doing the bucket-list trip, which would have us travel in May of this year.
I had thought we were the same age. But I questioned my memory of that fact (something I do a lot more once I turned 60) when you mentioned you were doing your 60th birthday trip. I am glad that there are still some functioning memory cells in my brain. This is good news.
Whenever Mrs. Scotch told someone about the trip we had planned, she'd always start with "we're celebrating that he turned 60", and I would jump in with "but really to celebrate our 25th anniversary". So finally, I took her aside, and asked her to please just say it's for our 25th anniversary. Reaching 25 years - especially on a 2nd marriage - is a real achievement. Turning 60 just requires one to be breathing and have a pulse. And besides, I don't really care about birthdays anyway.
Congrats on 25 years. I am approaching 23. My first marriage, her third. I should take comfort I am the longest by far. I think it is most amazing she has put up with me for 23 years.

This year will make 24 for me and wife. First and only for both.
Having her allow you to reach 60 after 25 years of marriage is the real achievement.
The Mrs and I just hit 24. I check my pulse every morning to make sure I made it through another night.
That reminds me of something George Burns often said in the 1980s: "I get up every morning and read the obituary column. If my name's not there, I eat breakfast."
We are getting to the new routine. So far she remains bed ridden but her goal is to get back into the wheelchair. The only wrench is she can no longer be left alone. So all our baseball and football games and concerts my son and I have booked now need to have an attendant.

Holy shit. Well done you four. I think my parents were married in '81 and they stayed married until my mom had to go and ruin it by dying in '08 so that would make 27 years. My aunt and uncle got married when they were like 20 and they're like 65 now so they're working on 45 years which is insane to me but also really sweet.
I'm pushing 40 and my plan is that if everything works out and I don't screw things up, I'll be able to start my run somewhere between 40 and 41 or 42. And if I manage to live until 80 that'll be like somewhere between 38 or 40 years.
Also, I'm following in the old man's footsteps. He was my mom's second husband. And I'm going to be Pam's second marriage so I don't know. It's kind of cute how it works out like that.

He's in Florida the home of progressive ideas in marriage and sexuality. I am sure 3 person marriage is legal there by now.

That brings up an interesting point. And I'm being serious now. Not making a joke about myself or whatever. But I totally think polygamy should be legal. Don't you all agree? I mean it gets a bad name because those crazy fake extremist Mormons (unlike normal Mormons who just have a weird third book of the Bible, but they're otherwise cool) wind up marrying like 7, 12-year-olds and that's fucking disgusting. But if everyone's an adult and they agreed to it and no one's being forced to do anything then who the fuck cares? Let four people marry each other.
The income tax filing laws alone would be enough to sink it. And besides, there's going to be jealousy issues.
Yeah that's a fair point. I can see how it would be abused. Like a whole town would marry each other in order to get tax breaks or whatever.
