Wow. 10 years ago already? It was crazy then, and still crazy now.
Most days I need motivation to get off of the couch, I can't imagine thinking that I want to be that far away from it or the floor that it sits on.

I'm assuming there were technical reasons they couldn't do windshield wipers. It makes too much sense to add them for that environment.

I know a guy that used to work at JPL , probably at the same time that Insight was being developed.
I never asked him if he worked on any of those projects, but I'll try to remember.

It was known that its solar panels would eventually get covered in Martian dust, making it hard to generate power. NASA said fitting it with some mechanism that removed the dust 'would have added cost, mass and complexity' that could have hindered its success.

Next step, send up a leaf blower style drone?
