So I mentioned the equator and how opposite sides of the earth works in another thread.

The whole thing was brought up cause my aunt and uncle had to disembark their cruise earlier than normal (yea, they set their lives up so their retirement is a constant vacation) cause of the rocket launch today. The Melbourne Port is very close to the Kennedy space center.

They're launching a rocket with a payload that will land on the moon! It was scrapped today due to a leaky valve or something but is rescheduled for Sept 2. It will land supplies on the moon that will sit there waiting for astronauts.

The USA is going back to the moon in 2025 apparently. Manned missions. So freaking cool.

And the whole point is to set up some base that helps them go to Mars! I'm 38. I think there's a really good chance I'll be alive to see an American land on Mars! So freakin cool again!

We live in the future. Maybe not as cool as the Jetsons future but we all have things in our pockets more powerful than what got Neil and Buzz and Collins all the way there and back.

What happens when u try to breathe in space? I know there's not enough o2 but I wonder what it feels like. I've been scuba diving b4 so I know the feeling of an air tank but I'm guessing it feels a lot different than if ur scuba tank goes out and u breathe in water.

Also it's super cold. So do you die from the cold first or the no air first?

You might have a few seconds of exposure. But you would die instantly from the freeze.

Unless you are near Uranus, then you would die of deep anal probing.

Your eardrums explode, your eyes will boil. There is just no air. It's not like breathing a tank of air low on O2. You just can't breath. I think you would be unconscious mercifully in about a minute. Lack of O2 will kill you before freezing to death (despite your eyes boiling). Eventually your blood will boil too.

So, like being at a Nickelback concert. Got it.

When u say boil u mean freeze right? Didn't think of that. Like the wetness in our eyes would automatically freeze over.

No boil. The boiling point of water goes down as you get less pressure. At sea level its 100C (212F). On Mount Everest its 68C (154F). With no pressure water will not stay in its liquid form.

So, like being at a Nickelback concert. Got it.

At a Nickelback concert you only wish you could be sucked into space.
