Here is my AAA card:

As you can see I've been a member since 2006 so I get the loyal member 20 years badge in the top middle of the card.

I would like to marry Pam at some point, I would like to see the Eagles win at least another super bowl or two...... So there are multiple things I want to live for.

However, the only thing that really matters in the entire world to me is that I live for another 37 years. I'm 42 now so that will put me at 79. If I die after receiving my AAA card when I am 79 I will die a happy man feeling I have accomplished everything I ever wanted to accomplish in life.

Why you may ask?

Hendrik died at 91 in August. I remember seeing his AAA card that year which was 2019 and it said loyal member for 56 YEARS!

I told him then and if there's any sort of afterlife and he can hear me now, I stand by how being a AAA member for 56 consecutive years is fucking ridiculous. But now there is nothing more I want in life than to be a fucking AAA member for 57 years so I can beat him.

He got a kick out of it. Probably because he thought it would never happen and he would hold the title even in death. But I'm coming for you Dad.

Only 37 more years to go. I got this!

I get these fuckers in the mail very regularly from AAA for all sorts of shit but mostly some sort of life, homeowners, car or some other type of insurance.

They all come in non-descript envelopes that are clearly made to look official and perhaps like from the government or something. So I open every one, because there is no branding on the envelope, and then I see it's from AAA and it goes straight in the trash and I'm just annoyed.

I never thought of it like that but I guess if they inundate you with enough of them maybe one time you just won't be thinking and sign up or whatever. Hahahahah.

I never get pitches from AAA. I do get a couple a year from CAA.

It would be very weird if you got AAA shit sent to you in Canada.

What really gets me, though, is how I signed up for paperless statements on all my credit cards and bank accounts, yet they send me junk mail 20 times as frequently as they would send statements.

That statement is true of any mail delivered through the mail system. I think opening someone elses mail is a felony,

"To be opened by addressee only, under penalty of federal law." Many mailers put that warning on the envelope to make the piece of mail look more important than it really is. Section 1702 of the United States Code covers "obstruction of correspondence":

"Whoever takes any letter, postal card or package out of any post office or any authorized depository for mail matter, or from any letter or mail carrier, or which has been in any post office or authorized depository, or in the custody of any letter or mail carrier, before it has been delivered to the person to whom it was directed, with design to obstruct the correspondence, or to pry into the business or secrets of another, or opens, secretes, embezzles or destroys the same, shall be fined [maximum $250,000] under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."

The law requires criminal intent – and it applies to mail that has not been delivered to the recipient. If you accidentally open someone else's mail, you won't get into any trouble, at least not with the government. The person whose mail you opened might be upset. By the way, "secrete" in Section 1702 means "to deposit or conceal in a hiding place" or "to appropriate secretly."
