But how does printing a coin that says a zillion dollars on it = we can borrow more money despite being zillions in debt?

Don't feel obligated to answer. I of course can get off my....er, on my ass and research it. But if anyone already has a simple answer, great!

They were talking about a $1T coin eight years ago.
I watched that video, and the only thing I keep thinking is basically this:
If I owe $200K on my house, $20K on my car and $50K to credit cards, but can't make the payments, do I just go to my printer and print a one-million dollar bill, throw it in my closet, and say "there, now I can borrow more money from other people"....?
The other example I came up with is if you own a house worth $300,000. You borrow $100,000 with lien on your house. Then borrow $100,000 more with a lien on your house. Then borrow $100,000 more with a lien on your house. Then the borrower says "Time's up, I own your house", so you grab the document that says your house is worth $300,000 and change the 3 to a 4. Then tell them, "See, it's still my house. And, oh, I want to borrow another $50,000 from you".

That's my understanding of the government printing up a $1T coin.

They used my Bang & Olufsen headphones in a couple of movies for cellphones.
Minority Report and something else.

Because of huge losses due to shoplifting, Walgreens has closed 17 stores in San Francisco in the last five years – and five more are soon to be closed. A spokesman for CVS said San Francisco is "one of the epicenters of organized retail crime."

Is it shoplifting of medical supplies by old people?

To anyone old enough... do you remember the Edmund Fitzgerald wrecking? i.e. was it a major news event?

Growing up listening to the song, I always had the idea that it was long ago, like the 1910's or something. Not 1975.

I remember it happening. Being on the Great Lakes, the adults and TV made a huge deal about it.
I understood that a ship sank, and people died, but I was young enough that I didn't realize how rare that was at the time.

It happened about a year before he sang about it. I don't remember hearing about it since I was about 13 and in Saskatchewan at the time. But it was big news. I have seen some of the archived reports.

And if you want to know the facts of the sinking, listen to the song. He actually got everything right.

Not at all. The earliest memory I have of any kind of big news was the Blizzard Of '78, which happened on my doorstep. I remember my mother struggling to open the door and when she finally did, all I could see was the sky because the lower 2/3rds of the doorway was a wall of snow.

I was in NJ during that, and we only had 1 day of school that week, but I wasn't impacted otherwise. But Mrs. Scotch and family were in the middle of it, up here outside the 128 belt.
