Front-page headline in today's Los Angeles Times:

In France, a woman is killed by a partner or an ex every 3 days

That poor woman! I wonder who she is.

The Times headline reminded me of an old Rowan & Martin routine. Dan Rowan said, "In the United States, a woman gives birth every five seconds." An outraged Dick Martin said, "We've gotta find that woman and stop her!"

In the 70s my mother worked at a bar named EJ's on Route 1. She said J Geils Band used to play there before they got superbig. The club was owned by Boston Bruins goalie Ed Johnston. But as an elementary school kid, the only thing that place meant to me was free maraschino cherries whenever the babysitter canceled.

She's a tiny little baby so of course she's super cute (and she has an attractive mom) but come on, this can be sold as an inspirational story all day but we know that in the real world this kid is gonna go through a ton of shit. I mean there is literally 1 person in the world (that model chick, Winnie Harlow) who looks like that, that people totally accept as hot. Everyone else with a condition like that warrants a double take from random passersbys on the street. IDK, I guess I think stories like this are more or less the modern day version of sideshow acts just with a compassionate spin.

Imagine if this was your neighbor. The drone shot is insane.

That is nuts. It's unbelievable that the town has let it go for over 10 years. It's almost comical how it's a complete trash heap, yet it's precisely kept within the property boundaries.

This is not as bad, but a couple of years ago, this developed in the town we used to border on, in NH. And the reporter was a classmate of my older daughter.

OMG my worst nightmare of a neighbor.
I’m surprised someone hasn’t set it on fire.
Cities usually step in when people let their places go like that.
My brother had a rental house that he had started to paint the shutters and had to stop for some reason. It took him a couple of months to get back to it, but had gotten a letter from the city that he was going to be fined if he didn’t correct the issue. I’ve also heard of people getting letters saying that they need to cut their grass or the city will do it and charge them.

That’s crazy. He had to spend a lot of money to get all of those printers. Apparently it wasn’t that easy to sell the toner cartridges.

The grand folks hold onto most of the stuff they bought in 1960 but they didn't have enough money to buy whatever all the crap in that house.

Remember 3+ years ago when I posted this?

Picture time!

Here is the cheap saucer chair my fat ass busted through:

Note how the hinges are destroyed on both sides.

And here is the more sturdy new one:

Also note the sweet futon I have in the "library" cause sometime I like to change things up and sleep in there.

I looked it up and I think it's a nursing chair, so there is probably a fair amount of dried tit milk chillin in those cushions. Whatever, if it is the nursing chair I think it is then it's worth $350 new so $50 was a good deal.

Of course you do.

So anyway, my now old chair was ripping. The stitching where the top of the back cushion connected to the back of the chair was coming undone. So I whipped out my dad's old sewing kit and got to work today.

I'm a freaking seamstress! Look at that beautiful stitching!
