Our washer doesn't have a fabric softener button. If you put it in the tray, it releases it for you. But Mrs. Scotch never uses it, because we buy the good detergent pods, and there are other reasons that only she knows. Obviously there's no "detergent" button, it's just part of the wash cycle.

Yes, we use Tide pods, the preferred brand for brain-damaged kids all over the US. I think Mrs. Scotch tried those "good for the environment" ones once, and they didn't do too well.I fear we are venturing into another fancy bread type situation.

Because once I bought my own washer and dryer I started buying what I consider to be the good detergent, Tide.
Before I had my own washer and dryer, I always bought whatever the cheapest was and the commercials are actually right. Tide is clearly much thicker than the cheap stuff so I assume that means it's more detergent and less water as advertised.
