The Dumb Dodo Thread

I agree R Kelly should do hard time. And the below is no excuse for what he did. But I did find it interesting and sad.

Kelly saw a childhood sweetheart drown when he was a little boy. And people interviewed by psychiatrist experts say Kelly was repeatedly sexually abused beginning when he was a 6 or 7-year-old boy, his attorney wrote, saying he was abused by his older sister and also a landlord, at times on a "weekly basis."

His back story explains how he got broken, but like you said, it's not an excuse and it is sad. It's too bad that he wasn't able to get help before he repeated the cycle.

I knew a kid that had a similar bad uprising that got in trouble for that too.

I'm pretty sure that if you were black, or gay, or a woman, or Jewish, or native American, or Hispanic, or Muslim, you'd probably want to recognize another person like yourself who was the first to attain a position of note

Bringing ur post from another thread here cause it fits better.

So I was talking to my boss (we bullshit text all day sometimes, nothing abt work) and she told me she and her wife were the first gay couple to get married in their county once it was legal. Now it was some backwoods County in VA but still that's really cool to me. She jokes that they may have been the only gay couple in the county but that's kinda an awesome story she'll have for the rest of her life.

A couple years ago I was the presbytery rep for our church (each church sends one or 2 people to be a representative in the larger body overseeing the churches). I was on one of the committees. One of the guys on the same committee was 1/2 of the first gay couple to marry up here back in 200x (forget exact year) when it became legal here.

On the now-defunct XMFan site we had a thread titled "Death By Selfie." There have been several hundred such deaths. Most of the dumb dodos died in a fall. Several drowned. The country with the most "deaths by selfie" is India – and here is the latest one:

The intrepid gal had frequently posted pics of herself posing on the edges of steep cliffs to her Instagram account, where she included the tagline, “Life should be fun not dumb.”

Irony.
NOT GUILTY!!!!!!!

Oh. Wrong thread.

Now this I think this one is a sad and tragic event.....

I felt.....influenced.......somehow......

People who look like that are allowed to be morons. They're not supposed to die in the process.

Of course I immediately thought of Oscar Brown's 1963 song The Snake. A version by Al Wilson was a hit in 1968. After being bitten by a snake she had rescued, a woman knows she will die. The snake tells her, "You knew damn well I was a snake before you brought me in."
