The Chemical Safety Facts website describes methanol as "a nondrinking type of alcohol (also known as wood alcohol and methyl alcohol) which is mostly used to create fuel, solvents and antifreeze. A colorless liquid, it is volatile, flammable and poisonous for human consumption." Methanol is also an ingredient in some hand sanitizers. And allow me to repeat: It is poisonous for human consumption.

Three people died and one is permanently blind after drinking hand sanitizer in New Mexico

I'm surprised that it doesn't happen a lot more.
When we were there last year, a guy gave me his phone to take a picture of him near the edge.
He kept stepping back closer to the edge. He didn't speak English, and I tried to motion for him to step closer to me (away from the edge) and the guy stepped back even closer. I thought I was going to watch him go over. We had taken a tour there, and after I handed the camera back to the guy, I looked at my driver/guide guy, and he was just shaking his head.

"Stay on the trails? That warning applies to others. It certainly doesn't apply to me." Well.......not any more, it doesn't.

I hear about Grand Canyon deaths quite a bit. There a lot of dumb ass that clearly don't pay attention to there surroundings and fall in easily.
