Does this

Does this mean that I cant use ANY online streaming programs? I have UXM to stream to my ROKU and a windows vista side bar app to listen on my desktop and also a program on my Windows mobile Treo 800W. Are all of these going to go away. If this happens, I might cancel everything.. One of the reasons I wanted ONLINE streaming was to listen to it more places then just XM Satellite Radio - America's #1 Satellite Radio Service ....

What is going on?

Do we actually have any hard confirmation that there was a cease & desist order or just speculation? To me the minute Sirius announced a free app was in the works, the writing was on the wall for this app with or without a cease & desist.

i have not seen any info myself that they got a letter from siriusXM. one thing i seen is they decided to stop because there iphone app was rejected by apple. the news says they ran out of money

siriusly, do you think dave from geekstoolbox would pull the plug on starplayr just because the iphone app got rejected? what about starplayr for windows, windows mobile....there was a high enough demand for them even before they apple rejected the iphone app. i'm pretty sure once sirius caught wind that they were charging for starplayr that's when sirius put the hammer to it.

Even if they didn't get a cease and desist, if the Sirus app is free, how would they compete? Can't go cheaper than free.

Compete on features...as do many for-pay services and applications competing with free alternatives.

Whether the market is big enough is the question, of course. And if SiriusXM gave them a cease and desist, it's moot.

I will miss my Starplayr 2.1 and the ability to record and save into iTunes.

I hope someone else comes up with a good app.

There is a program that will do it, and do it well too! It's a pay program however.
Record Internet Radio, Video & More with Replay AV
Enjoy :)

On another note, what's to stop the starplayr folks from just releasing the code to the public, I'm sure someone else will make something happen

I worked with Jason Millard as a beta tester when he put out the original uSirius and uXM applications up 3 or so years ago for streaming via the TVersity project. Just checked his website and he has pulled both apps. I still have both apps running even as I type. I guess time will tell (i.e. 3/11) when streaming goes PPV. I do pay for premium for my SL100 so I assume uSirius will work but no clue about uXM after tomorrow. StarPlayr is still working but I'm sure the plug will be pulled as this app was hosted through their website - only time will tell...

From what I can gather on other sites XM online will work until your current sub is up - monthly, quarterly etc. You won't get the 128 stream which is having "tech diffucultes" right now unless you pay $2.99 per month like Sirius. Either way my uXM is still working at 64k...On it goes...

Does this mean that once I renew, I wont have the 32K or 64K streamng? I dont really care about the 128K.. I just want to be able to use UXM for my ROKU, the vista side bar thing I use to listen and FOOBAR2000 for listening at work.

Wow, Sirius may be about to loose me as a customer all together. What the hell is going on? It's starting to feel like they don't want to survive. The *only* way I can listen to Sirius during the day is to use uSirius / ORB from my iPhone since we are not allowed to stream via our work Network.

Remove this option, and you remove my need to maintain any kind of subscription to them... This isn't a threat, but a reality. I hope that uSirius continues to work, but based on what I see right now I am guessing once any changes are made to the online setup that breaks uSirius, that will be the end.

Sirius will be releasing an iPhone app (free) as of 2Q2009.

That's correct. No more "free" 32k stream. If you want free low bit rate streaming, you would have had to have locked into a lifetime or long-term subscription by 3/11.

Once your term is up, you'll need to pay $2.99/month for streaming, and you'll get the 128k high bit rate stream.

FWIW, I have not had any system difficulties using my premium streaming. It must be intermittent.

SO, Basically, I will have NO streaming once this happens. I use UXM to stream to my ROKU and some other apps on the desktop. If I cant use anything to stream XM to my ROKU and cant stram XM at work using my FOOBAR PLAYER and cant stream it on my WINDOWS MOBILE PHONE, I am prob. going to cancel. This is a deal breaker for me. WHO do I complain to? Who do I call? I think the 32K or 64K should be free and then extra for the higher stream. THats the way it WAS when I had sirius.. it was included at the lower rate and for the bight bit rate it was an extra charge.

Can anyone point us to where it SAYS no more 32K or 64K stream or anything except 128???

I bet there are LOADS of others who feel the way I do!

I think that if we dont want to pay for 128B we should get the 32Bit included!

$2.99/month once your subscription expires.

BUT will all my apps I currently use work? They all seem to work now with 31K (as it says when I look at the bit rate). for $2.99 a month will I still be able to use UXM and whatever I use on my treo WM and desktop???

I know when I bring out the Sirius player I can select the crappy (32k) stream if I desire.

Testing update on uSirius and uXM: Still working, but XM has jammed their stream down to 32k for good - the 64k stream is gone. Time will tell if they figure out how to break Jason's login sequence
