This really sucks for all of us.

I just checked my Starlight for Sirius and my StarlightXM for both and they say "Client version no longer supported. You must upgrade."

My Starplayr2 for Mac still works however.

I still have the .dmg file for it version 2.1 (that records) any Mac user who wants it.

Who knows how longer it will work.

I will try to find out why and what is going on.

Here is the word from the Nicemac Team:

StarPlayr.com

"NiceMac has decided it is in our best interests to discontinue the StarPlayr project. NiceMac will be issuing refunds for purchasers of StarPlayr for Windows Mobile on a first come first serve basis until corporate funds have been exhausted.

To request a refund simply copy and paste your StarPlayr for Windows Mobile PayPal receipt via the Contact us Email form.

We would all like to thank you for your support, kind words, understanding and patience throughout. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience."

What a damn shame. My starplayr says their stream service will be turned off on the 10th. It's been fun listening...Another reason to cancel both services and rely on Slacker. Even Howie isn't worth the BS we have been through, as SIR/XM is quickly becoming irrelavant IMHO.

Isn't it also possible that SiriusXM is partering with them in developing their "official" applications?

No, or else their current PR would be something much different. No they got a cease and desist there is little doubt about it.

The sad part is that Sirius will no doubt put out a application, but it probably won't be nearly as good.

I think if they had been smart they would have tapped these guys to take over the project, but I am sure they would want to be paid.

The bottom line is we don't know what went on behind the scenes and since neither party is talking, we'll never really know.

I will miss my Starplayr 2.1 and the ability to record and save into iTunes.

I hope someone else comes up with a good app.

Even if they didn't get a cease and desist, if the Sirus app is free, how would they compete? Can't go cheaper than free.

for me i would have jumped on the official app. that's not a problem. what dissapoints me is that sirixm had a c&d for the app for desktops. i do not like the official desktop app provided, mainly because of the "are you still listening?" every hour. i would much rather set the station, minimize the window and go about doing my stuff.

Do we actually have any hard confirmation that there was a cease & desist order or just speculation? To me the minute Sirius announced a free app was in the works, the writing was on the wall for this app with or without a cease & desist.
