Finally catching up.
I never remember that these guys go back as far as they do. I always think they are a metal band. I like this. The shoe gaze stuff is good.
This one built up nicely.
Not too bad, but the video is hysterical.
I like this one too.
Not my favorite from this batch, but he’s got giant balls using a Fender whammy with a capo on live TV.

Another round of catching up:
Kinda old-school hip hop. Smooth and relaxed. I like the bossa nova vibe.

This is a good one. I grabbed me the first time I heard it. It's got a good sultry groove.
Tight band. It's great to see the resurrection of real musicians that get into the funky R&B jams. I want to hear them get really funky.
It wasn't grabbing me till the change came in around 1:20 or so. It was ok, then it got some character.
Ha! They teach you how to play the song. It's a little melancholy for my tastes.

The Fender style of tremolo bridges (whammy bar) aren't known to keep in tune the best under normal playing conditions. Usually friction between the nut and the tuning pegs, and a little spring inconsistency at the bridge end can cause the guitar to not go back into tune perfectly if you use the whammy bar much.
Capos are basically clamps that go on the fret board to simulate that the guitar is tuned to a higher key. (Just like fretting a chord at a higher fret.) You see a lot of acoustic guitar players use them. When you use a whammy bar, it loosens the strings to give those dive (detune) sounds that Eddie Van Halen did a lot. Some brands do a better job than others.
When used less aggressively, they give that subtle warble / watery sound that you hear on older surf music like Sleepwalk by the Ventures.
The extra friction of the capo gives a lot of opportunity for the strings to not go back into tune. Adams is good.

I like the little changes they do for the live version.

This one is good. Her voice works well with Robert's. You (or somebody) had posted this song just after it showed up on SXM.
He can be a bit full of himself sometimes, but he does crank out some good songs. I like it.
I like their stuff. They are a good live band. I'd like to see them play some time.

I don't know. I remember hearing he was doing analog recording. That new song has quite a lot of effects, not sure you can do that all with analog equipment.
